We are going back as soon as we can! This school is tailor made for our son academically. He is a gifted child with some IEP needs. Even though HH does not offer IEP, it does not have to. As the schools Step Mod system, is wholly geared around children like mine. It allows him to excel in subjects he is good at, and gives him the individual help he needs in the subjects he is not by allowing him to work at his own pace. The social environment is exceptional, as the schools culture is not geared around age and grade, but integrates all levels as one, by encouraging the older kids to mentor the younger ones. I only have one gripe and that is they are in desperate need of a overhaul in the food department. There is entirely too much junk food. We left this school because of work relocation, but we are considering moving closer, so we can send our son back to Hawarden Hills.

This school is okey until a child hits middle school. Then you RUN FOR YOUR LIFE !!!!!! The decision maker is the science teacher! Her husband is the computer teacher and her friend is the language teacher. If you upset ONE, or if they don't like you or even envy you or your parents.... You are in living hell!!! Try talking to the principal!!! She threatens to expel you!!!! That is the weapon in the middle of a school year!!! The teachers have no credentials , from aids they get promoted to teachers!!! The focus is always on the ribbons, feathers , decor etc and NEVER the kids. The language teacher in the highest reading step has dyslexia !!!!!! Good luck with your grades!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! My kids went to a public high school and MANY kids coming from public middle schools did GREAT!!! don't make my mistake!!! SAVE THE MONEY and don't let them hurt your kids. They did hurt my son!!!

The main problem with the school is Miss Lenny the principal. She hires students parents that are unqualified and unmotivated as teachers and aides and gives them free tuition for their kids as part of their pay to save money instead of hiring accredited teachers that know how and want to teach. She is very unaccessible and hard to find much less get a meeting with to discuss your childs needs or concerns you may have. The one bright spot at the school is the kindergarten teachers. Mrs. Haddock and Mrs. Lopez are both very loving , motivated , and qualified teachers. They don't have any children at the school , they are at the school to teach and help kids succeed not get free tuition for their kids. I feel Kumon is a far beter way to teach your children and a true step-mod system. Kumon not Hawarden Hills is the answer. Sincerely, Mitch McMurtry
