Awesome school with great teachers and staff. The teachers really care. I've noticed how much my son has grown and matured in just the first year. His math and reading skills have improved greatly. I also love the exposure to language, music and visual arts.

Ventura Montessori is exactly what a real Montessori preschool/kindergarten should be. We love the teachers' dedication to the Montessori philosophy and how much they genuinely care about the children. Our daughter has excelled in the time she has been there and looks forward to going every day. We highly recommend Ventura Montessori to anyone looking for a preschool or kindergarten program for their child. We also love the community of other families. Everyone is interested in the success of the students and the school without any politics or stress. We couldn't have picked a better place to enroll.

I have two sons at Ventura Montessori School. My oldest started at a different preschool/daycare in town, but I moved him to Ventura Montessori when he was potty trained, and there was never a question of my younger child going anywhere else. I am astonished by the difference the Montessori Method makes in children. I was also surprised to see how different the activities and learning materials are. My son went from doing crafts at the daycare, to learning real skills. At other schools teachers choose the activities, do the set up, and the clean up. At Montessori the children learn to choose an activity, set it up, see it through to the end, and then clean up after themselves. I think all kids are excited by learning new things, but at Montessori I feel confident that the things they are learning about are important concepts and skills, not the frivolous time-killing activities that seem to characterize some other programs. The difference carries over at home too. Other parents are so surprised to see that my four year old makes his own bed every morning, sets the table correctly, and even asks for other jobs to to around the house. After going to Ventura Montessori for preschool I enrolled my older son for Kindergarten at our local public school (Pierpont). After a month I withdrew my son from the public Kindergarten program and re-enrolled him at Ventura Montessori. All the child development experts say that these early years are so important for forming work habits and attitudes toward education, and it is clear to me that he gets so much more socially, emotionally, personally, and academically at Ventura Montessori. I highly recommend this school.

My daughter loves VMS! She's learning so much and absolutely LOVES to read since starting here! She also makes up math homework on the weekends! She's always enjoyed books, but now she's really reading and it's challenging to get her away from a book. The life skills are fantastic too! I asked her if she makes a mess while eating at school and she said, "No, because we use place mats." We now use place mats at home and she has stopped making a mess... She also LOVES before and after care! We were recently missing school for a couple days to go to Disneyland and she said she was sad she wasn't going to be at school and wished she could do both. She gets dressed fast to get to before care earlier and has requested to be the last one to leave after care. I can't say enough about the Montessori experience and particularly this school. She loves Ms. Vijay! I love the opportunity parents have to be involved and participate in wherever are skill sets lie. We had to move and change her schools 3 years in a row, and we are so grateful we found VMS and continue to flourish her love for school!

My oldest son (almost 6) has been attending VMS for 2 years and is also currently in the summer school program here. My youngest son (3 1/2) just started here with the summer program. They both love it as do my husband and myself. The teachers and assistants are simply amazing in all that they do. The parents work together contributing so much as well. It took my youngest 3 days to get into the swing of things and he gets better each day as he gets to know everyone and feel comfortable and confident. My oldest son has always enjoyed school. We attribute this in part because of the Montessori method of teaching which we believe really nurtures children in growth and independence. Also our children love school because the teachers are just so great. They are so knowledgeable and have that great balance of firmness and gentleness that you look for. They are so good in fact that we use the head of the school, Mrs. VJ, to help our own parenting. For example, when my oldest son has poor manners I might say, "Oh, what would Mrs. VJ say?" LOL But it works! We all respect her so much. We know we made the right choice in choosing Ventura Montessori School for our children and highly recommend it.
