In March 2015, I was given a tour of nearly the entire campus. I've been to a number of schools, and this was by far the most impressive. Sure it's private. Sure it's Catholic. And those are important characteristics. But what really knocked my socks off was the polite students who got up from their desks, walked to me at the door, and introduced themselves to me (with a firm handshake, and looking me in the eye.) This school is training kids to not only be smart and faithful, but also very professional. And that's something that's sorely lacking in society today. Furthermore, the teachers and staff all seemed to be interested in being there. Nobody came across as a "seasoned veteran" who was counting the days until retirement. This academy is definitely a top-pick for your kids if you live or work in the area. Also worthy of very high-marks is All Hallows Academy just up the hill. Be sure to look at them both and choose the best school for your kids and family.

When I was in this school I was bullied... badly. Not only did the teachers know about it bit they encouraged it. On one occasion I was forced to sit with the rest of the girls at lunch while being ridiculed to the point of tears. Also don't think your kids aren't thinking about sex. I remember one of the girls bragging about making out with one of the boys in a closet and being pressured to go further, at the ripe old age of ten.

As I went to school there I felt ready to go beyond. As I went to many different high schools around, people would say to me, "Stella Maris? That is a good school, you are prepared." And with that I feel that the school, classmates, and teachers are just plain awesome.
