My daughter graduated 15 years ago. Pat Montgomery of Clonlara said repeatedly back then that if a student wanted a government job, they should have a private school diploma, even though homeschooling is legal. Well, we just learned how true that statement was. Now that she's 33, my daughter's current career has led to a government job that requires vetting. As proud as we are of her homeschooling "diploma," it was only Clonlara's verification that allowed her to pass through the vetting process. We are so grateful for the extra layer of protection that Clonlara School gave us.

Clonlara was a great alternative school for my son. He learned to take responsibility for his education, had an individualized accelerated academic program, explored his artistic side and felt welcome and appreciated in the community. Teachers were fantastic.

Had I known this place existed, my son's early school years would have been much smoother. I have a non-traditional learner and this place let's children learn at their own place and use alternative methods to gain and express their knowledge. Plus, being a gifted learner - a ceiling on learning would never be imposed. Ann Arbor provides a wealth of choices in the education area and Clonlara is a cut about the rest. Kudos to Pat's vision and the entire Clonlara staff.

Clonlara is a place where a kid can learn at their own pace and not be forced into traditional desk work. Flexibility and choice are offered. And it's a place you can make and learn from your mistakes. Great alternative to traditional schooling.
