I love this school and so do my kids. I didn't want my children sitting at desks all day doing worksheets like I did as a kid. At this school they are known as the individuals the are and are active and engaged in their learning. I'm happy that Summers Knoll values language arts, music and visual arts as much as they do, and the scientist in me loves how they have integrated their scientific inquiry into the program. This is a perfect fit for our family and I'm so glad that we are part of the SK community.

My wife and I debated school choice for endless hours. Our son was preparing for kindergarten last year and is now in first grade. Though our local public school is great the teacher to student ratio is 29:1. That felt way off. Further, we knew our son needed more movement in his day not sitting at a desk with workbooks. Local public school recess was something like 17 minutes. Summers Knoll offered the right mix of small and intimate classes where our son's strengths and weaknesses would be known and met. Curriculum isn't workbook-based and rote. The project-based approach allows for movement, depth of study in a topic(s), field trips into the community and time with teams of students working out challenges. Every day our son loves going to school. He loves learning. We couldn't be happier with Summers Knoll. Oh, and one more thing. When you choose a school you also choose parents. We've built great friendships with many SK parents and feel part of the school ourselves.

The Preschool @ SK is hands-down, the best program in Ann Arbor. SK is committed to small class sizes school-wide and builds their curriculum so that it is project and place based and includes thoughtful character development. Our son is an active child and SK is committed to regular movement inside the classroom and there is an emphasis on getting outdoors daily (often multiple times). The teachers in my son's preschool classroom complement each other and provide a diverse environment for learning. I could not have hand-picked three better people for my son to be learning from on a daily basis. We view his teachers as an extension of our family and their exceptional communication helps us to feel connected to our son and his learning while he is at school. His lead teacher, Clara, is truly one of a kind and has built, in my opinion, the best preschool classroom in all of Ann Arbor. We are so incredibly happy with SK and our son will reap the benefits of attending this amazing school his entire life.

We have been thrilled with our experience at Summers-Knoll. Our boys are in 3rd and 1st grade, and both have been at the school since Kindergarten. They get personalized attention in a small classroom setting. It's a wonderful environment for the happy, curious learner. We're also a huge fan of the math curriculum. Summers-Knoll uses the Singapore books but supplements with games and activities that give meaning to the numbers. The teachers are innovative in this selection of activities.

We've been part of the S-K community for six years. S-K is both nurturing and challenging academically which is an incredible combination in a school. The dedicated teachers meet the kids where they are and create an environment where each student has the opportunity to thrive. We are so appreciative that this educational option exists in Ann Arbor. S-K fosters an authentic love of learning.
