Great church, great Christian school. 3 services most Sundays including bilingual and Spanish only service options

Trinity is in such disarray, it was bearable when my son first enrolled there in pre-k 3 year old, but now it’s unbearable and not interested in serving the community just serving its congregation who are pacified with the status quo. Trinity is on their 3rd principal in four years. The kindergarten teacher lacks the professionalism to answer parents’ questions without being rude. She also will not allow any parents in her room besides the last half hour of class and specific days. I knew many parents who removed their kids from the school because of Mrs. Tatum “style” of teaching. The principal had the audacity to tell me I was in violation of “child endangerment” because I didn’t have the appropriate helmet for my child while commuting five blocks back and forth from school on my motorcycle. Even though she had no idea what size of head my son has, what size of helmet I was putting on him and what the laws were for the State of Oregon (her husband rides motorcycles but she still is too ignorant). Love those people who know best, but actually know nothing. Daycare billing is so bad it lacks comprehension on how they get away with it; here is a sample of what you can expect, don’t bother calling or complaining they just send the same thing to you but on a word doc. How are you supposed to know if you billing charged the right amount??? Milk accounts I placed enough money in my sons account for him to have milk every day on my custodial days plus a little extra (about $47.00). By December it was down to 15.00 they never made an attempt to rectify it, had no explanation why. I started sending milk with him in his lunch around December; in June it was still 15.00. I experienced gender bias, the admin staff was incapable of calling both my sons mother and myself when he was sick or injured; they would only call his mother. I complained to the principal talked to the staff, sent emails and they never could give me the respect and consideration of a parent or customer. There was always some excuse why they didn’t, couldn’t, or shouldn’t and nothing but attempts to cover up the truth – I finally was so put off I called the church president to have a discussion with him. Chuck I thought was ultimately responsible for what was going on. He called me back and talked to me while he was driving downtown once he got to his destination it was time to wrap things up. Chuck asked me to forward him documents about my complaints but I didn’t want to waste my time with a school that didn’t respect me as a parent or as a customer, or some person who was invested in trying to make the school better. For several years I was the first to achieve their required volunteer hours or was always happy to help. I haven’t verified this but chucks wife is on the school board and another family holds very high positions enough to where two families control enough votes on committees that they make all of the decisions. I was also told they changed the charter to where the church can operate (make changes) without consent of the school board. It was also common knowledge they were losing money so fast they only had a couple of years to turn it around. They lose like 80k a year on salaries alone??? I recently talked to a couple of people still involved in the school I guess their remodel is not going well and they are breaking budgets on everything. Do yourself one favor ask any administrator or representative on how they deal with people who ask questions? Ask them if they have ever expelled a child for their parents asking too many questions or not accepting the current state of affairs? Update 8/18/15 Another principal has left, I wish I had kept the resignation letters from the previous 3. They all weave how god and prayer got them to this decision. Bravo Chuck and Pat...

There is a regular church here with service times at 830am and 1100am. I went there and immediately fell in love with the traditional morning service. If you are looking for a traditional church service with organ-led hymns, this is the place for you. I have also went to three other churches in the area before landing on Trinity Lutheran Church.

I was impressed with their curriculum and study habits my daughter learned while at Trinity. She was on one of their honor rolls each year she attended - from 4th grade to 8th grade. These were the years that prepared her for the challenging high school environment. I can recommend Trinity to any parent that is seeking an alternative to public schools. Lots of activities to participate in including before and after school care available. Summer activities like sports camps and music camps also available. Very diverse student body located in the inner City.
