Scary experience today. I hosted an exchange student who went to school here, and chose to move houses because I wouldn't allow her to participate in illegal and morally corrupt activities. I was asked to bring some things she left at my home to the school, where the head of the exchange program told me icily "They're here to be educated, not raised." I would NEVER recommend a school whose backbone is made of those words to anyone. I am aghast that this was the statement from a Christian school, and deeply saddened that I would be so poorly received for defending my home and a child placed in my care. Reading the other reviews on this page helped me realize the type of organization this may truly be. I'm thankful that I'm not the only one to stand up to this moral apathy and appreciate the words of Jan Schnabel and others.

I'll just leave you with some basic questions that might help prospective parents/guardians when looking at any school. Obviously, we have had a one-star experience here recently - but that was not historically the case. I would say there was a time I would have given them 3.5 stars...but since 'the new sheriff' came to town, the past 2 years have been nothing short of heartache. There are some kind, wonderful families here along with a handful of amazing teachers that hopefully are spreading their joy and making it through the storm that is the current model. -How does the school select their teachers? -Are the teachers state-certified teachers? -Have the teachers gone through education courses? -What is the discipline model of the school? -Have the staff/teachers participated in safe schools training yearly? -Do the teachers hold education degrees? -What AP courses are taught? -What percentage of students pass the AP courses for each offering? -What percentage of students attend 4 year university? -What percentage of students attend community college? -What languages are offered? -Do the teachers hold degrees in the subject area? -Is the school following the state's private school guidelines? -Who is the mentor teacher of new staff that isn't highly qualified in the subject area? -Does administration seems open to interacting with parents? -Is bullying a problem at the school? -Does the school have a program for gifted students? -Does the school have a program for students with learning differences? -What are the biggest challenges the school faces? -Is a core content teacher actually versed in the content that is being taught? -Are administrators state-certified administrators? -If not state certified, what training or background does the person in an administrative position hold? -Does the school have an updated student handbook? -Does the school have an updated staff handbook? -What is the appeal process for complaints? -Does the school have a board? -If they have a board, can a parent/guardian contact them about concerns? -Is the board active? -Is the school accredited? -What entity holds their accreditation? -What are the guidelines of that agency around accreditation? -What does the school have to do to be accredited? -For non-state certified staff that provided curriculum in the classroom, what training have said staff had in working with children? -Have all staff been background checked? -Have all volunteers been background checked? -Who makes the curriculum choices for the school? -Does the curriculum decision-maker(s) have a background in education? -Who is the school accredited through? -Have you verified the accreditation? -How are behavior problems handled? -What are the school's expectations for the students? -What are the school's expectations for the staff? -What major issues have led to policy changes in the last few years? -What is the student to teacher ratio Hope this helps.

I found the staff and even the kids I met, amazingly kind and thoughtful...exactly what I would have expected from a Christian school. Unfortunately, that concept stopped at the two administrators who clearly have no sense of Christianity, but rather posess a God complex of their own. And to be clear, the school mantra about developing a partnership with parents is non-existent to both of them. Don't think, for even a minute, as a parent or guardian, that they have any interest in your opinions...they are a private school who "can do whatever they choose to do, without the consent or opinion of a parent." Well not this parent!

Do not attend the Middle School. Its terribly managed and there is way to much drama than other schools I have seen. The elementary school is great! Than you get to middle school. Out of this you get good athletics but no other opportunities. They spend all the money on athletics and don't spend to much on art. If your child really Likes sports, wait till high school. Just take your kid somewhere else for Middle school.

The high school admin is a walking billboard of "What NOT to do" - The review below mine nails it and actually gave me some peace of mind that not everyone drank the kool-aid!
