Great school. Small class sizes. Diverse student body. Excellent academic standards. Both of my children love it and as parents we feel confident we are giving our children the best education available.

Good.

I attended this school from 6th through 8th grades. I was horribly emotionally abused by most of the boys in my class, who would chase me down the hall screaming obscenities about my weight (some of which were also sexually abusive), and the staff made no serious effort to stop it. I was also verbally abused by staff and made to feel that I was "asking for it." This was in the early 1990s. I'm not sure if the Harrisburg Academy has instituted a zero-tolerance policy on bullying since then. If it hasn't, it bloody well should. If you are considering sending your child to Harrisburg Academy, do some serious, hard-core research first. Ensure they have a zero-tolerance policy on bullying, and don't take the school's words at face value. Join online forums and ask other parents, students, and alumni/ae to share their experiences. I was not the only one who was bullied during my attendance, and I doubt we were the only people who suffered abuse in this school's history. We should not continue to maintain our silence.
