My son graduated in 2004. Went on to Geneva and is now working toward a doctorate in Psychology. My daughter will graduate in 2018. A solid education with God as the focus.

I see a couple of reviews that indicate this site has been hacked. As head adminstrator, I can confirm that we do not have any student by the name of John Appleseed or Benn Kirk. I would think that if a student here had something to say, they wouldn't be afraid to use their real name, and anyone who has been to school here could spell correctly and would use better grammar. If you're really interested in seeing what we have to offer at Portersville Christian School you can either come and visit and see for yourself, or ask any of the 1,000 or so students who have graduated from here in the 55 years it has been around. Our graduates get into their first choice college, many of them into top tier programs at highly competitive universities. Test scores aren't everything, but our students are leaders in that regard in this region, and we have produced more national merit scholars in the last 10 years than any of the larger public schools in our county. The willingness of our teaching staff to take a lower salary indicates that they want to be here, and are willing to share in the sacrifice that is necessary to keep tuition costs down for families of students. And we expect that our students will not only graduate with a strong academic background, proven by the high level of success of our graduates, but with a set of moral values that are rooted in the Christian faith, which provides them with a level of integrity that is well above posting anonymous, negative reviews on a website.

A fantastic place for ACADEMICS and PERSONAL GROWTH! I cannot disagree more with the other rating on this page. PCS was my school from third grade till I went to college. Three classmates and I attended Grove City College together after and had ZERO trouble academically. We studied divergent fields and all received multiple degrees apiece in four years. The academics and classes are small, focused and well-taught. As I now have my Master's Degree and am now preparing to work on a doctorate, I felt the course load, class atmosphere and teaching style well-prepared me for real academic challenges. The Christian emphasis was also presented in a real, honest and conversational style-not shoved down your throat and not religion. PCS is about relationships-with Christ and with everyone else in this world. You feel prepared when you leave to maximize those relationships. While I have been out of PCS for a number of years, some of the same teachers I had remain. Now my children have them as instructors, and are also receiving top-notch educations. The reviewer who touts the SAT are not taken by others is just wrong. The 2011 Seniors at PCS did very well and almost every eligible student takes standardized tests every year. Most of them have entered college this fall or a few enter military service. They had a national merit finalist and many other awards for academics, a Mancini Award for musicals this year and more. Many students have multiple college class credits transferred toward a degree after HS graduation. Their track record for alumni is also stellar. I have dozens of friends from PCS who have achieved much from the solid foundation found there: doctors, military officers, teachers, ministers, computer sciences, art, music, corporate managers and CEO's. These PCS Alumni are often great parents to boot, having the influences of loving teachers and administrators to shape them This, along with a plethora of supportive Christian families who you spend time with as a teen and kid sets a great trajectory for one's life. PCS has made this its mission for over thirty years. Don't let one good or bad review sway you. GO AND SEE HOW GOOD IT IS FOR YOURSELF!

I attended PCS for 9 years. It was a waste of time. The administration is too focused on religion, at the expense of standard education. With the small number of faculty, it's hard for them to schedule classes such that everyone gets what they need. I knew people who graduated who never took math past Algebra I - just because it was hard to fit into their schedule. They had difficulty finding teachers for some classes, and as such we had three study halls a day. The high SAT scores PCS touts are only because a select few take the SATs. Those who are not at the top of their class are not encouraged to take them. Not many of PCS's graduate are college bound, so SATs are not required. Kids with rich and influential parents were more likely to get preferential treatment, and in some cases miraculously passing grades. The small number of kids in the school means that your kids will not be making friends, they will just be hanging out with the people they dislike the least. In the end, I transferred to public school in a search for greater education than PCS had to offer. I found it.
