I have been at The Phelps School for over twenty years and wouldn't have had it any other way. Beginning as a mathematics teacher, I have since served in almost every capacity, most recently as Head of School. I originally thought Phelps was going to be a stepping stone to a more secure and higher paying public school position. However, after only a few weeks, I felt like what was happening here was what true education should look like. It's not just about the academics, but rather the whole student - mind, body, and spirit. Our Affirmations of POWER (to think Positively, serve Others, seek Wisdom, pursue Excellence, and live Responsibly) are at the core of our program. With an average class size of only seven students, our faculty have the opportunity to make an impact on young men that reaches far beyond the classroom. I am blessed to work with such dedicated colleagues and proud of the growth I've witnessed in our students. Recently, I've read some rather negative reviews. Although disappointing, I believe several are from a particularly disgruntled student, who was dismissed for a serious violation, and his friends. While one could say my opinion is biased, I wholehearted believe that this small, all-boys, independent boarding/day school offers much more than other schools. It helps young men develop lifelong friendships, achieve academic success that was previous unknown, experience a sense of family and, most importantly, grow into men of character and integrity. It has been an absolute joy to educate the minds, bodies, and hearts of the young men who have attended Phelps.

This school was the main reason that I was able to even consider going to college. At phelps I was able to turn my life around and be put on the right path. The hard work of the teachers and headmasterand their never ending willingness to help made me want to give back to others throughout my life, their teachings were truly priceless.

Some of the best years of my life were at this place. Thanks for the memories and friendships.

Please do not send your child to this school. It is a complete waste of money and the faculty will LIE to you about how good this school is because it is very bad. If you visit and are thinking about sending your child here, please keep in mind that not all the things they say is true and it is misleading. But overall i will not be sending my son here again and if he stayed he probably won't make it to college.
