All three of my children attended Children's House and it was the best decision our family made for them during those early years. They were nurtured and prepared for future years -- and they were happy and safe. The Children's House staff was unmatched locally; all were very over-qualified for their positions yet their love for the children kept them in this small, nurturing environment with a high level of one-on-one teaching. All the teachers at Children's House had college degrees and most of them had Masters Degrees, as well as Montessori Training degrees and years of experience. You will not find a more qualified staff in all of Centre County. Children's House is also very multi-cultural (because it is so close to Penn State's main campus) which gave my kids a strong appreciation for different people and their cultures. There are many schools available now in State College. But when you look closely, the staffs have little or no experience, little or no education, and parents are won over by new facilities without considering the lack of tangible substance and the children often suffer due to the lack of experience. Children's House is set in a clean, well-kept, historic building in downtown State College which allows convenience for parents as well as a comfortable home-like environment which allows the children an opportunity to adjust easily to being in a new environment. My children are older now (14, 12, and 9) but we still reflect on the life lessons which were instilled in them at Children's House. Each of my children took away from Children's House a quest for learning which goes beyond most of their friends. As my son enters high school he is recommended for all advanced level courses as he balances a strong athletic interests. I attribute many of the successes and interests of my children today to the strong foundation provided to them through Children's House.
