Top notch education, welcoming and close knit community, great teachers and many extra-curriculars. We love CCS!

Jan 23, 2018
As an alumni who attended from Kindergarten through 12th grade, I watched this school go from excellent to very poor in quality. The administration seemingly only cared for the money they stood to make. This started with a change of the headmaster almost 10 years ago, but continues to this day. In addition to the monetary aspect, politics run the show here. I saw many teachers fired because they didn’t align with every administrative decision or because they questioned the difficulty of the curriculum. They use scare tactics to force compliance. For several years, I was also a member of the Ambassador Council at CCS. I saw first hand the push to bring more kids to the school. The fact is that Cypress Christian is operating in a state of overflow and has been for some time now. For the past five years they have continued to add portable buildings seemingly everywhere they can put them. It got so bad at times, that middle school students would have to use lockers traditionally set aside for high school students, and vice versa. Recently a second gym was constructed on campus. It houses administration offices and sports facilities; not a single additional classroom. The “college preparatory” aspect of Cypress Christian is frankly a joke. I graduated expecting to have a head up on my fellow students when I got to college. That simply wasn’t the case, in fact it was the complete opposite. I struggled to acclimate to the rigorous demands of college life and had little to no study skills from my time at Cypress Christian. I have since been forced to learn what it means to be a student all over again. The advising department at Cypress Christian is perhaps one of the worst parts of the administration. On several occasions I was publicly humiliated by the head advisor in front of my friends and classmates. Not only did she publicly put me down, she told me numerous times in private that I wouldn’t amount to anything and that I’d never get into my college of choice. In addition, I was told that dual credit was being phased out of the school curriculum because it was not longer being accepted. This is plainly and simply a lie. Texas public and private institutions of higher education are required to accept dual credit so long as it meets requirements. Sure out of state schools aren't required to accept it, but statistics will show that significantly more students graduating from Cypress Christian go to a school in state rather than out of state. The only thing that kept me from leaving was the football program. The coaching staff strove to make football more than a game, and that they did. The only people I keep up with from my time at CCS are the teammates I had throughout my time playing on the team. I learned more about what it means to be a Godly man through the coaches than I did anywhere else in the school, and that sticks with me to this day. I simply cannot recommend Cypress Christian to anyone. There is a much better education to be had at the surrounding public schools or even some other private schools.

I have had the pleasure of working with Cypress Christian School for years. Working with the IT staff it is apparent how dedicated they are at providing a great and safe environment for both students and staff. I wish I would have sent my children to this Christian school when they were of age.

They offer a Warrior Tour - it's a tour of the school. On the first stop on the tour, I turned to who I'd been invited by and said "if I had kids and lived in Houston, they would go to Cypress Christian!"

I attended CCS from K-8th grade. Besides most of the teachers, the board staff is absolutely focused on profits. I had great friends, however anytime I or others questioned Christianity we were punished. Bad curriculum and erroneous orthodoxy.
