Despite only having attending ASA my senior year i learned more about college and time management, among other things, than my other three years of high school combined. I came from another school, even smaller than ASA, that had about 20 kids at any one point during the year but the problem I had with it is the teachers aren't as focused on your education as they are on other problems that might arise throughout the day. ASA, on the other hand, has just the right ratio of teachers to students so that if something requires the attention of a staff there is always someone to take care of it without disrupting the classes. There were 15 kids in my graduating class so the classes were small which helped the teachers get to know and better help the students and send them, off to college better prepared than someone who attended a larger school. on Fridays ASA also helps you to not just learn about college but they will walk you thorough the application process and help you whenever you need it. Between the small classes, excellent staff, flexible schedules, tutoring sessions after school, and college help, I feel like I have an edge over other college freshmen/women that any other school couldn't provide.

I just recently graduated from Alexander-Smith Academy (ASA) this past May and I can honestly say ASA made my high school years incredible! In the past 5 years (yes I said 5 years) I have been to 4 different high schools and ASA was the best, no doubt about it! Some might wonder why did she repeat a year of high school? Well heres the short version. Second semester of my junior year and the whole of my senior year I was at a boarding school. I did not choose to go to this boarding school (I wanted to stay at ASA), however because of personal reasons I had to move. To say the least I didn't learn anything while I was there. If I graduated from the boarding school in 2012 and went to college I would not of succeeded. Hence my decision to return to ASA for a "super senior year". I knew that if I went back to ASA they would prepare me for college. That is exactly what they did, infact they went beyond my expectations in preparing me. When I returned to ASA I was behind in my academics, but the teachers and staff worked with me and brought me back to where I needed to be. Because of ASA I graduated Salutatorian of my class and I will be attending my first choice college! This fall (2013) I will begin at the University of Houston and I will study Hospitality Management at the Conrad N. Hilton College! Aside from the academics the people I met through ASA are incredible! The staff is beyond exceptional and the students are fantastic as well! My first day at ASA I met my best friend! She will be a junior in college this fall and we still talk! I owe ASA, because if it weren't for them I would not of met her! Overall I highly suggest ASA for anyone looking for a private high school with exceptional academics in Houston!

I attended the Kinkaid school from pre-k to junior year, and ASA really helped me a lot my junior and senior year. The individual attention is great, the class sizes are small, the kids are friendly, and the teachers are awesome. I would definitely reccomend attending ASA to anyone who is looking for a great private high school experience.
