My son attended Northwood from when he was 2 1/2 to 5 years old and it was such a great experience for both of us in so many ways. Initially he had a hard transition due to separation anxiety but the staff at Northwood worked with him to help him feel welcome and that he was in a safe place. I toured 4 schools before deciding to start him at Northwood and I’m really glad I chose this school because of the fact that they are only one of two AMI accredited schools in the greater Houston area and are really committed to maintaining a true Montessori style classroom and environment. My son flourished while in Ms. Regan’s classroom. I cannot say enough good things about Ms. Regan. She is an extremely devoted teacher who takes time to know each child and work with them as individuals. This is part of the Montessori method of learning but Ms. Regan goes above and beyond to create the best individualized plan to help your child succeed, she’s truly amazing! I also LOVE the playgrounds, it’s set in a wooded area with lots of space for the children to run around and they even have a little walking/biking trail. I truly felt like I was part of the family while my son attended Northwood and I really miss that now that he’s moved on to a much larger school. I don’t think he or I will ever forget the wonderful experience of having Northwood be his first school!

I initially picked Northwood Montessori because it was the only accredited AMI Montessori school in my area. Upon observing the school and classrooms I knew this was where my children would be attending school. We are so happy with Northwood Montessori and not being from Texas, the school and staff have given me a confidence in letting my children go off to every day with out me. The staff are an amazing group of people and I am very grateful they surround and teach my children. I highly recommend this school.

We were at this school for almost 3.5 years and I was very involved parent and I can tell you that I spoke to many parents (over 40 families). All of them consistently say the same thing, when the child is learning at this school he or she is at a much higher thinking level and maturity level than his peers. All the kids that graduated from the program are operating at a much higher academic level and most tested into or were very close to being in GT at the public schools. (This is just based on talking to other parents) This makes sense because the Montessori method (and, the way it's implemented at this school) is very effective because it is individualized to the child. Also, the teacher are the best! They have been there for years. They genuinely care about their students. Their method of keeping kids focused and on task is by modeling not by assertiveness. Wish I could keep my son at this school forever! Our last year at the school I asked my son's teacher if we could stay one more year (my son was 6 and they take kids until 7). She said that while he is welcome to stay it would not be good for his progress, he needs to move on to the next level. Now, you tell me, which school would ever give such true guidance about their students? Every other school I know would gladly say, we will take your money and keep your child at the school. This is why I love this school and recommend it to everyone I know. You can't get this kind of honesty in this commercialized world now a days! The school is affordable on purpose, it is diverse, it is loving, it is safe, has a full day child care system, it is certified, it had caring teachers, it is focused on the whole child, it’s just a great school to be a apart of. It is truly a DIAMOND in the rough. You’ll not regret send your child to this school!

My two children attended Northwood Montessori for three years before moving on to grade school, where they were totally prepared for the social element of starting school and were already ahead of the game academically. The campus offers a beautiful, natural setting and the overall environment is very caring and nurturing. The teaching staff is outstanding!

Northwood Montessori is an unexpected surprise tucked away in NW Houston. The perfect, serene environment - as all Montessori schools should be, provided an excellent foundation for our son. The skill, expertise, and knowledge of the classroom teachers far exceeds any preschool curriculum. We credit this beginning to our son's continued love of learning. It's a must!!!
