Westminster School

Excellent kindergarten program. Well rounded w art, drama, sports, French, and etiquette. My 5 year old can read. He is more advanced and better prepared than my older children were for 1st grade after they attended a Montessori school and a Fairfax public school.

Incredible school! I'm very thankful my kids can go to Westminster!

As a parent of a Westminster School graduate, I can say with confidence that this institution significantly, positively, and permanently influences children’s lives. My child, who is now entering his senior year of college, still credits Westminster for so much of his personal and even professional development. For nine years (K-8), he grew up in a caring community dedicated to bringing out the best in every student. Westminster’s teachers are passionate about their subjects and truly go the extra mile to help students achieve academic success. Even more importantly, the emphasis of the school, as guided by a devoted administration, is the holistic growth of each child. It starts with the etiquette and respect for one’s elders that is expected of all students; it continues with opportunities for enrichment such as taking classes on public speaking. It “ends” with the 8th grade play, the last of nine annual shows in which those who have attended Westminster since kindergarten will have performed a major role and which allows students to blossom into the poised, self-confident, self-aware, and ultimately well-rounded people they have consistently been raised to be. The lessons and impact of Westminster really never end. I cannot tell you how much my son mentions his time at Westminster and thanks its community for building him into who he is today. He is pursuing a career in broadcast journalism and points to the extensive public speaking experience he received at a young age as a key factor in his success. He also often speaks of accomplishing tasks “neatly, completely, and with pride,” an expectation Westminster’s headmaster sets for his students and which my son has adopted as an approach to many facets of life. It is truly with pride that I express my connection to and appreciation for Westminster School and offer it my highest recommendation as a place for children to receive a superior education.

hands down the most well-rounded and comprehensive classical education for elementary and middle school students in northern virginia.

I only recently became acquainted with Westminster School, and have had until now no vested interest in the school. I have been learning a great deal about this unique place from its administrators, parents, students, and alumni/ae. The curriculum is truly one of a kind - emphasizing the classics, including Latin, penmanship, the fine arts, theater, and a variety of basic skills (including civility) that have all but been forgotten in other schools. These are the sort of skills which make its graduates stand out among others. Personally, I have seen some of its graduates in secondary education settings and they truly have excelled, which is why I agreed to serve on Westminster's board. A bonus - the campus is a little gem in centrally-located Annandale. I look forward to working with Westminster for many years to assist them in their goal - to provide a superior education to exceptional young men and women. If you seek an outstanding education at an affordable price, you simply must consider Westminster.
