No student here will coast, slip through cracks, get lost in the shuffle, or otherwise be unseen, unheard, unappreciated, unchallenged, or unloved. Every student here is known as a person with unique gifts to share and unique challenges to face, and we all grow together. Our size is our strength. This is a quote from a summer school student, who normally attends a large local school: 'It's different at my school... when things get hard you can just disappear into the crowd and slide by. I realized I've been conditioned to not be held accountable. But you can't do that in a class of six people... don't take that to mean I don't want to be here! I'm glad to be here.' And that's it: nobody disappears at Renaissance School. Every student has the opportunity to be brilliant in their own way. And that is why I love teaching at Renaissance School.

This school is a gem. Our son is a junior there now, and we could not be more satisfied with his (and our) experience. Smaller school with access to a big world. Whether it is lunch on the mall with schoolmates, walking to the ACAC for PE, the arts practicum at Lighthouse, taking a class at UVA, it's all part of the Renaissance experience. The teachers and administrators are committed to their students and the school and manage to both nurture and challenge their students. Specials offerings in sports, art, music, theater are excellent and the core courses provide perfect preparation for college. The college counseling program is unsurpassed and will allow parents to sleep soundly. The goal is to help the students get to know themselves well enough that they can identify schools that provide a great fit (while reaping large scholarship awards). To learn more about the Ninth Week trips, the spring show, the coffeehouse, and a thousand other fun and educational experiences offered, you'll just have to check out Renaissance School.

Our daughter started as a Junior last year - wow what a difference the school has made in her life. She thrived last year and is excited to be spending her Senior year there. The environment is perfect for students that excel in academics and the arts. Cannot say enough about the administration and faculty; an amazing group of true professionals - caring, understanding and supportive. She has made many new friends and I think will have life long friendships. Renaissance is truly a blessing for our family.
