This school has been amazing. They all show love for every child. They instill morals and teach from the heart. I am very proud that my son has been with such an amazing school for the past 4 yrs and counting.

This is our daughter's fourth year at St. Mary Star of the Sea School and we couldn't be more pleased. The faculty and staff at the school are absolutely amazing. She has had wonderful teachers every year that are extremely dedicated to the curriculum and a Christ centered foundation for learning. It's more than just a school, it's a family. I know my daughter is safe when I drop her off. They have exceeded my expectations in both the knowledge my daughter has learned not only in academics, but how much she has grown in her faith as well. I would highly recommend this school. The principal is easily accessible to talk if need be and is always floating around the school.

After teaching in the public education system for over 10 years and having my kids attend public schools, I decided to accept a position that was 60 minutes from my home. My options were to find a daycare near my home that could bus the kids to and from school or to find a private school near my job. Needless to say we chose the private school option and have never looked back. At Saint Mary Star of the Sea School my children get so much more than a quality education. They are nurtured in every aspect. I have seen an increased reverence in my children and a genuine love of learning. My eldest, who recently graduated from 8th grade, matured in his one year at St. Mary's in a way that is simply incredible to me. He became more grounded, thoughtful, self assured and confident, and I believe that it had everything to do with the warm nurturing environment of this school. He was exposed to high level academics and while the course content was rigorous, and we struggled at times, the faculty and staff were there to support him with excellent communication and tutoring. Our younger children have thrived in this school as well and currently attend third and first grade respectively. They have both improved in reading and math but the thing they love most about school is the Marine Science program. They have experienced the Chesapeake Bay with this hands on program that continues to impress me year after year. They love going to school every day and drag their feet when it's time to go home. St. Mary's has made a difference in our lives with hands on-- active learning, loving teachers and great friends. With all sincerity, Saint Mary's is a great school, and if you are even thinking about it take a tour... you won't be sorry. On a side note: I know that many people think that private education is incredibly expensive, at least that is what I thought, but there are scholarships available if you qualify and they can make a huge difference. You never know until you check it out.

My family has been a member of SMSS for nine years. I selected the school b/c I needed a Catholic school close to work, and came up with a true blessing. The faculty & staff are loving & supportive. They do work for the betterment of the children, even when that means making tough decisions. My children have been pushed & challenged academically - to include allowing my daughter to spend time in the next grade level when she was in pre-k b/c she had early reading skills. My children have grown individually and spiritually. Their talents & gifts nourished. Small class sizes have equaled increased attention and strong relationships. I highly encourage you to explore SMSS if you are looking for a school.
