I really wanted to love WEM but this school was extremely disappointing. It is a beautiful campus and the classrooms are clean and bright but the positives end there. I am a trained educator and have spent time working in another montessori school that I loved so I was excited about calling WEM home for my very sweet, easy going preschool age daughter. Unfortunately WEM was a very cold environment. Parents are not encouraged to be a part of their child's education and are not allowed in the classroom or on the playground- you have to wait behind a gate if you pick up during outside time. The children are not allowed to talk in class ever unless they raise their hand, even then they must whisper. There is only one way to do things and redirection is cold. We feel this school is unbalanced and is all rules with no warmth. Montessori is supposed to inspire creativity and a love for learning but here Preschoolers are taught to follow directions only and never think for themselves. I believe this school could do serious damage if you send your child here.

This school is the heart and essence of Montessori. My daughter has been part of this amazing community for the last 5 years. Her love of learning, confidence in the world, and her respect of self, others and the environment around her are only a few of the amazing gifts she has received. The teachers are connected, tuned in and always watching out for the best interest of each student. From day one I have felt nothing but gratitude and appreciation for what the school, staff and leadership provide. Academically she is excelling, and their approach of educating the "whole child" has allowed her access to a well rounded education. As head of the Parent Advocacy Group at Whole Earth I do see a need for more parent involvement, but this is improving and myself, along with the staff and leadership of the school. are continuously looking at ways to make this more possible. Overall, I know this is a learning campus that exceeds the qualifications of their American Montessori Society accreditation status.
