See the web site for comprehensive description, including instructor bio's and what's being offered. I have been a student here for a little over 2 years. As a Police officer, I have found the skill set relevant to the job, especially given it's consideration to the Criminal Code. There is a good balance of offence, defence, ground and stand up taught here. The Club screens all potential students to ensure a safe and respectful training environment. 6 classes a week make it a cinch getting your money's worth. I recommend this Club if your looking for traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu.

It has been wonderful training with both Lori and Chris, classes are fun and I get a good exercise and a good practice on different defense techniques each class. Anyone with a passion for martial arts, I think this is defidentally a great place to start, the enviroment is fun, friendly and exciting. The techniques effective and easly learnt through repetition and practice. Highly recommend anyone interested in learning the traditional Japanese Jiu-jitsu.

Highly effective training in a non-competitive but pleasantly intense environment. Instructors walk the walk. Students are just a great bunch. Highest possible recommendation.

I wanted a system that incorporated all elements & ranges of self-protection - standup, grappling, ground, weapons. I found something more at this club - awareness, social situations (you don't want to clock Uncle Ted at a picnic), multiple attackers, and the most important element for me - the transition from standup to the ground. In other martial arts I've tried, there was no system. There would be different styles but no integration - one style (eg. standup) would be taught one night and another style (eg. ground) the next. There was no flow from one to the other. With MMA, one must be adapt at going from standup to the ground. But in self defense, one must be comfortable going from standup to the ground then back to standup. This Club trains specifically for this. Great instruction & great attitudes throughtout. Highly recommended.

I joined West Coast Jiu-jitsu in late 2008 with no previous Martial Arts experience, and was happy to find it a great blend of fun, excercise and discipline. The principle of "No Competitive Macho Attitudes" was very appealing to me, as was the fact that Lori has a balance of both men and women attending. I have found West Coast Jiu-jitsu to be personally rewarding as a student of Sensei Lori O'Connell. I highly recommend her and West Coast Jiu-jitsu to you
