I've been going to Urban Tactics since the first day they opened their school, back in 2013. Within a few months I felt my confidence increase and have been attending ever since, and have also recommended other people to try it out. What I like is that the other students come from all walks of life but have one thing in common, and that's to learn to be able to defend themselves in very normal situations. The instructors are supportive and not pushy, and because there are no Krav Maga competitions it removes a lot of the "I'm better than you" attitude that you find at some of the other traditional martial arts schools. I plan to keep going to classes and progress, as it's a good way to keep fit and a practical way to learn to defend yourself in this crazy world.

I decided to learn self defense because I was 87lbs and walking home from work was a constant worry. I was just going to the gym and trying to gain weight but I wanted to learn something so I had a goal to work towards. I started with Krav Maga. It's been about a month and I feel Confident from within, I've gained 11lbs and im always so excited to go to class to learn something new. It's not just a physical workout, a lot of it has to do with critical thinking and i really like that. I like the challenge, to figure out what to do in any situation. I gained awareness and i also feel that it's okay to be small, I can still protect myself and the people around me. I started Brazilian Jiu-jitsu because I feel like it comes hand in hand. Plus I heard it's an advantage being small. If I'm standing up and there's a conflict I have krav maga skills, but if I get pinned down I have Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills. Then I tried Muay Thai and I keep going back for the endurance. They're different types of tired and I feel like i should know them for an all around skill. That way in any situation I won't be worried that I can't figure it out. My classmates have all been super supportive ive met some great friends already! In return, I try to help the new students feel welcome too. I love the culture in the gym, it's a great place to be!

Great gym, friendly people, hyper-practical street survival training. If you're ever worried coming home late at night or wonder if your kids are okay out there, Urban Tactics can help with that. Taught by veterans and tested in reality, training from Urban Tactics Krav Maga makes me a lot less worried about my kids. Check them out.

Urban tactics is definitely my first choice for Krav Maga in the greater Vancouver area. The verity of instructors provide uniqueness to every class, which give helpful perspectives on new techniques an situations. The attention given to new students is great, whether from instructors or more experienced students there is always someone there to help.

I highly recommend Urban Tactics as the best place to learn Krav Maga in the lower mainland. They're incredibly welcoming to any skill level and I learned an incredible amount even within my first class.
