It was our first visit today with my toddler that recently turned 3. The instructors worked with him and it was beyond amazing seeing my son slowly come out of his bubble with the encouragement of the instructor. Defiantly going back!

I don't even know where to begin. This place is incredible. The dojo has made such an impact on me in just a few short months. I never envisioned myself studying martial arts, but a few friends of mine encouraged me to try it, and I'm so grateful I took their advice. Come in. Try it. Work with amazing teachers. Get to know your fellow students. Break a sweat. Feel better about yourself, inside and out. Investing in yourself is one of the best things you can do, and this is the perfect place to do it.

Five stars doesn't begin to describe MAC. One can grade a school because of credentials and a stunningly well laid out fancy dojo. This school has them too. World championships, etc. It does no good to be influenced by school trophies, awards and proclamations. Believing boastful reviews when selecting a karate school can be misleading. The best school that focuses on these credentials rarely can transform those successes into GOOD students in the genuine manner Martial Arts Center does. As a former student of this school, I decided to attend a class after a 16 years hiatus. I was immediately greeted not by the owner, but by fellow students who demonstrated immense pride, humility and fellowship. This is the heart of Joe Hurtsellers school. Martial Art Center is teaming with discipline and fellowship who want to contribute more to their lives and help others. It's truly communal. You may think this doesn't sound like a killer karate school? I can assure you, these students and instructors are fierce and excellent in the martial arts. But what they have that other schools do not have is humanity. It's one thing to walk out of a class feeling physically satisfied. It's another to walk out feeling nourished deep in your soul too. If you want a once in a lifetime experience, come here. You will fall in love as soon as you take your first step in the door. I sure did.

I started out as a parent bring my son here when Mr Hurtsellers was first located on Glendale Ave. My became a teenager and his interest changed and our lives moved on. But I always wanted to try martial arts. I use to be a competitive sailor. That is what took up most of my free time. I started to take Martial Arts to get back into shape for sailing. I no longer sail competitively. It has been replaced with martial arts. Yes I am in better shape but little did I know how far out of shape my mind was. When I started to take martial arts I soon learned that there is more to it then just learning how to defend your self and get into better shape.
