Great martial arts school. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. They teach fighting styles and techniques in great depth, while also connecting different elements together. Students also learn the advantages and disadvantages of various moves, and how to adapt to the situation. Lessons can be large, but guru Kent is able to maintain high quality instruction and offer multiple levels of instruction at a time. Finally, the school has a welcoming atmosphere and utilizes safe practice methods. It IS possible to learn without breaking bones! PS teach has a swag beard

I have worked as an LEO for approximately 1 year. During the academy, I began considering martial arts. As I graduated the academy, I knew it was time to choose a school. KSK stuck out because of Guru Kent's work with the Michigan Sheriff's Association. I decided to try KSK and knew I made the right decision when I took my trial class. Guru Kent is very knowledgeable and passionate in his trade. The classes are well planned and they are fun. Guru Kent has several associate instructors, so there is never a time where we do not have someone at the school to teach class. Guru Kent teaches five main areas in class, striking, clinching, trapping, manipulation and grappling. While all five are important, I can recall several times where clinching has been a necessity in my field. Without my training at KSK, I would not have known how to react when the opportunity presented itself. I would recommend this school to anyone, LEO or civilian.

I have trained at KSK Martial Arts for a number of years. Even though as a young woman I was often in the minority (most of the members are men), I always felt very welcome and safe. Everyone who trains at KSK is welcoming and supportive of each other member. Guro Kent, the main instructor at KSK, especially makes sure all members and visitors alike feel welcome, learn real, applicable self-defense techniques, and have a great time. I would definitely recommend this training studio to anyone looking to learn real self-defense techniques or just meet some truly awesome and fun people. The only reason I don't train here anymore is because I moved away to college!

I found KSK because I wanted to learn self defense. I wanted to have confidence in my ability to defend myself. From the moment I walked into KSK I felt welcomed and safe! I have been at KSK for about a year now and I have never felt unsafe while training. It was never my plan to be here this long, I just wanted to learn a few self defense moves and then be on my way. But life has a way of turning your course and I found myself not only loving the training, but becoming a part of a new family. I have never been made fun of or put down if I am not at a set level or if I am struggling with a new skill. The instructors are patient and help you fit the new skill to your abilities. One of the things I love the most about KSK is that everyone there really and truly cares for one another. Guro Kent has been amazing and cares about you as a person and not just when you step onto the mats. Whether you want to train in martial arts, improve your health, or just want to learn to defend yourself, the KSK family is waiting for you!

I have known Guru Kent for many years and am continually impressed by his acceptance and genuine enthusiasm for the growth of the individual, regardless of race, religion, orientation, etc. Not only have I had him give private training to my son and daughter, but have also had him give two separate personal safety presentations to the parents in my "Mommy & Me" class. Both of my children and the parents in my class had abundant praise about their experience. Thanks to Guru Kent for being "One of the GOOD ones!"
