My son and I started training at NYMMA in 2012 and we both love the art, philosophy, and the instructors. It is very difficult to find a school that teaches an effective combat martial art balanced with a friendly & collaborative environment. The knowledge, skills, and passion that the instructors bring everyday really make it the best school we have ever trained at. As for the art itself, it may seem simple on the surface but I am still working to perfect the skills I was taught during my first intro week at the school. The art teaches what is equivalent to black belt techniques in other arts the first day and gives you time to perfect them through out your training. It focuses on simplify, efficiency, and effectiveness and now I also take that same approach to everything else I do. The kid's class has helped my son develop a sense of discipline, focus, and dedication. The supportive environment has really elevated his confidence level, on top of that I know that he can defend himself if he needs to. I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in martial arts, but know that it will take commitment and a willingness to push yourself past your comfort zone, and the instructors and other students will be there to support you!

I have been training in martial arts my whole life but this is the first school to challenge my mind as much as my body. BE WATER MY FRIEND!

The academy welcome me as a disciple the moment that I passed through the door, SiFu John is a master that will repeat his instructions over and over till you the new disciple successfully accomplished to learn a skill, “the art to simply simplify”. The staff and older siblings (seniors) will instruct you any time while practice. You will be always watched and instructed. You will definitely have a life change, Im a person that spends 3-4 hours over the classes at day, it is only the beginning and Im feeling like family, thats what Jeet Kune Do stands for.

This is a very technique driven school , down to the science and all. Environmental and people friendly. Would recommend for everyone. It's a great confidence booster to many to learn how to defend you're self better and just in general for first timers .
