I've been attending classes for about a year now and its been a great experience. The classes have a perfect balance of traditional Martial Arts and practical self defence where everyone can learn and grow at their own pace. I'm excited to be involved in a club with so much opportunity and I look forward to developing my skills at Royal City Aikido

It's a great mix of ages (I'm 55!) and very friendly atmosphere, no pressure, at your own pace

Excellent place to learn a fantastic martial art. Sensei Jarek is a terrific teacher.

I started attending Sensei Jarek's training a week ago and I have enjoyed each of the sessions. Every time I come I feel welcomed by the Sensei and the others mates. I feel like I got a great starting in martial arts. I highly recommend the dojo.

One month in and its been an excellent, welcoming experience. Small class sizes mean lots of time for individual attention from Sensei Jarek. The class is convivial and respectful. Beginners like me aren't rushed at all, we move at a very reasonable pace. Students are encouraged to master form/technique and we're always given knowledgeable explanations as to why things are done a certain way. I tried several classes in different styles of Aikido before settling on the Iwama style taught here. The bukiwaza (sword and staff work) is what sold me on Iwama Ryu, it really helps me reinforce and appreciate the circular motions in taijitsu (empty handed work). Note: you don't have to pay for a gym membership to access these classes.
