Phenomenal gym. Having trained at several other martial arts academies, I can confidently claim that Buffalo United Martial Arts is legitimate; everybody wants to help each other build character and skill. If you'd like to become a stronger person, consider visiting BUMA.

I've been taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here for a few months and it's a great school. The owners and instructors are deeply knowledgeable, and create a very community focused learning environment. There is a consistent focus on technique, cooperation, and safety. The school is comprised of a good mix of both men and women, youth and adult students. The school and mats are kept very clean and proper hygiene is always politely reinforced. Due to these solid fundamentals, individual students and the school as a team tend to place well in local tournaments. If you're interested in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mui Thai, or MMA - Buffalo United Martial Arts should be your #1 choice. But you don't have to take my word for it - they also have a free trial program which encourages new students to join, leading to a wealth of diversity among participants. Beginner Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are Wednesday at 6:30pm and Saturday at 10:30am, come try it out.

Great gym for adults and children. My son and I both train here and love it. If you're looking for authentic muay thai this is the place.

TOP NOTCH! I've been practicing with Buffalo United since they opened their doors a few years ago at the old location on Main Street. The instructors share a contagious passion in their field of expertise. I started with Jiu Jitsu, then added Muay Thai, and recently started Judo with their newest member of the team. This academy is always adding new classes and finding ways to improve. I really feel that I've been able to grow here as a martial arts student and training with the best of their field. They are constantly brining in new techniques and guest instructor for optimal learning; bonus they have the only Muay Thai Kru in WNY. And they've only continued to expand with their move to Riverworks on Ganson Street. Its a top notch facility, clean, comfortable, including changing and shower rooms for guys and gals.

I am a recent student of Buffalo United Martial Arts (BUMA) within the last two months but this academy has become a second home to me and the students and instructors are like a second family, a fight family. I started off with Muay Thai (Thai boxing and kickboxing) as I was looking to expand from the boxing classes that I had started with at another gym. Going to a new place and earning something that was completely new to me was very intimating but from day one, my fears were put to rest. Our Muay Thai Kru (teacher) Keith Forant is the only WTBA certified Muay Thai instructor in WNY who happens to be a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu as well. Every class whether it be the Ladies only or Coed, I feel like I am learning and constantly improving. I slowly got interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as the concept of a smaller person being able to defend themselves against a much bigger person is intriguing to me as a female. On the first day I was able to work on a armbar submission on our head instructor black belt, Joshua Ketry, and after that day I was hooked and I haven’t looked back. The instructors are amazing at teaching their craft and the students are very welcoming and patient. For only been with this school for two months but I feel like I’ve known these people for years, in reality I know I will know them for years as this is something that has changed my life and plan on continuing. If you are looking for something different because you feel like you’re missing “something” in your regular gym or you need to feel strong, I HIGHLY recommend that you give BUMA a shot to change your idea of what you are capable of. The Impossible becomes Possible.
