I recommend anyone who feels like they won't ever be able to defend themselves to take this class. It was worth every moment. The instructor and assistants are amazing, I couldn't have asked for a better experience! They truly help me get my confidence back as a woman as well as help me realize I am worth fighting for. I will be forever grateful for this class!💕🤟

Women's Basics 2019 IMPACT BAY AREA was recommended to me for their verbal boundary setting techniques and reenactment scenarios. The instructor, assistants and "suits" are professional, supportive, encouraging and compassionate. They provide a safe environment to experience our feelings and practice technique. The "suits" make the scenarios realistic. This is a place I could hit the person in the suit full force without fear of hurting them. We all cheered for each other during our fight sets. This course is well organized and truly set up for creating muscle memory of what we learned. Thank you IMPACT BAY AREA team and classmates. I highly recommend this training.

I came to IMPACT really interested in learning verbal boundary setting techniques and in becoming more prepared to defend myself in a situation in which someone I know becomes threatening or transgresses my boundaries. IMPACT really delivered on this and so much more in the 3-day class I took with them! I was floored by how effective and well-thought out IMPACT's techniques are; how competent, trustworthy, and compassionate the instructors were; and how my class coalesced into much more than a class -- a really supportive community of women. If you're looking for a self-defense class that is emotionally safe, empowering, and workable for all body types, then IMPACT is for you!

I did IMPACT's Basics self-defense training about 20 years ago and then my teenage daughters completed the training as well. I can't say enough positive things about IMPACT! They are incredibly organized, professional, and base their training on WHAT REALLY MATTERS in both verbal boundary setting and powerful physical training that stays in your body memory for when you need it. Take this training! You won't be sorry!

Took their 3-hr intro class and it was excellent. Check their website, they give classes around the Bay Area (the Oakland location is just where some of their staff live). Classes for adults, kids, teens, gay/lesbian/trans etc. They also have some scholarship money if you're interested but broke. And they teach private classes for schools and organizations.
