It is an incredible community. My son at 11 didn't want to try a marital art. After the first lesson he didn't want to leave. He calls it his 2nd home.

Studio Naga is a very special place for my family and myself. We have been training for over three years there and could not be happier. Poekoelan is such an amazing art and the community at Studio Naga is so welcoming and supportive.

I've been a student at Studio Naga for the past seven years, during which time I've become a healthier, happier and more confident person. I strongly feel that all the best qualities one might look for in a martial arts school are found at Studio Naga. True, there are many disciplines to choose from, and no doubt some people might prefer a different style or tradition to Poekoelan Tjimindie Tulen. But the beauty of this martial art is that it is suited for everyone, regardless of their age, shape or color. Because of this, the student body is very diverse. As to the effectiveness of Poekoelan in self defense, I can thankfully say I've never had to resort to it in a real-life situation. What I'm certain of, is that the introductory Cun Tao phase of Poekoelan doesn't just provide an arsenal of responses to specific attacks. It teaches you preparedness. The 108 "holds" taught aren't the only ways a person could be attacked, nor are they only reactions one could respond with. The idea behind this curriculum is to provide a vocabulary of movement that may be adapted to any situation. Lastly, I can't praise the head teachers at this school, Louise Rafkin and Judy Sorensen, more highly. They are both intelligent, grounded individuals whose vast experience is evident in their beautiful expression of the Poekoelan art form.
