Update: After training here with Adam for over a year now, I enthusiastically update my review. The location moved from the old 'wonky spartan' facility, to the current place, and its a great upgrade! Fantastic clean place with amazing mats. Seriously, the amount of padding is just perfect. Come check it out! I moved to the bay area looking to continue my jiujitsu training and found elite team east bay as the most convenient location for me. After shopping around and dropping in at the other east bay bjj choices I found it to be the best fit as well and the price can't be beat! The location is a little wonky to find the first time and the facility spartan (perfectly functional and clean), but the small class sizes make it the hidden gem that it is. Tons of one on one time with the instructor if you want it! Adam is super accessible before, during, or after classes to answer any questions or go over anything you might need cleared up. Very welcoming and chill atmosphere--This is definitely not the 'hyper competitive alpha-male go until you puke with coaches yelling in your face' training environment. Super fun, amazing workout, huge confidence booster, great people. Constantly amazed that more people havnt picked up jiujitsu!

I started coming here about 5 months ago to try out brazilian jiu jitsu (they have a 1 week free trial). I absolutely love it here! Adam the instructor is very kind, patient, and passionate about bjj and his wife Margaret is just as lovely. The facility is kind of small but very clean and organized and it's clear that they take a lot of pride in what they do. The training environment is awesome as well and the smaller class sizes, in my opinion, make for a better experience because you can actually ask the instructor for help if you are struggling with something. All in all, this place is great and I'm glad I came here to try out a new sport.

I was looking for a gym to try jiu-jitsu and started at Elite Team, aiming to complete the free week trial to see if the sport was for me. I have now trained there for four months and it’s been an incredibly positive addition to my life. Instructor Adam Lowry has a tremendous passion for the sport and for teaching, implementing clear instruction with a very positive attitude that carries through all his students. Adam has always been accessible if I have a question or trouble with technique, he takes the extra time to explain or show me which I always appreciate. The facility itself is spotless, with great natural light and a minimalist aesthetic that presents a very peaceful and calming vibe. I can’t say enough about the quality of training and the people, Elite Team East Bay is a great place to work hard, learn and meet awesome people! I Highly recommend.
