United Studios of Self Defense, Rolling Hills is an amazing martial arts studio! Whether you are interested in getting in shape, mastering self-defense, or simply feeling like a total bad-ass when you learn cool things like knife-throwing or long swords, it is the place to go! I started there as a White Belt almost seven years ago, and even now as a Black Belt I am still excited to go in every week and learn more. This isn’t just a place where you can take a class; it is a place where you can grow - becoming a better, stronger, more confident version of yourself over time.

I grew up doing martial arts and value all of the character benefits that come with learning martial arts. I encouraged my 7 year old son to try martial arts, but he was very shy and scared to join a dojo. After visiting several of the studios on the hill, I found the USSD instructors to be great with kids, and their program included a weekly half hour one on one private lesson with each student. I cannot emphasize how valuable the private lessons were in overcoming my son's apprehension towards martial arts, and now he really enjoys going to both the private and group classes!

Sensei David Johnson is an excellent instructor. He is very knowledgeable, proficient, and patient with both children and adults. Having tried a number of other dojos, I would not consider going anywhere else. In addition, I really enjoy going to his place for exercise. It has reduced my blood pressure, improve my cholesterol level, and reduced my weight. I highly recommend this studio.

USSD is great for all ages, especially children. Instructors were attentive and caring, and were always willing to help even after scheduled practice. More on the expensive side, but a standard plan will offer plenty of private and group classes. Altogether a great experience, 5/5 stars :)

I have trained with Sensei David Johnson for 18 years and he helped me honorably to earn the rank as Shodan, 1st degree Black Belt. He is a great instructor and a friend and always part of the family. The dojo is my childhood memory and my family. I will always remember and honor it.
