I was studying a different Martial Art and was getting close to my Black Belt when i was introduced to CATABE through my wife. Initially I attended some sessions as I thought that it would make great cross-training, but after just a few sessions, I realized that CATABE is a much more complete system of Martial Arts/Combatives. The Martial Art I was training in involves full-contact sparring and I honestly loved it, but CATABE includes a level of depth that I had not previously been exposed to. The experience and general knowledge of Kyoshi Ruben (8th Dan), Renshi Rubi (5th Dan) and the other instructors at the Inner Ripple school where the CATABE classes are held is very broad and based on real world experience, not just dojo training and competition. My conviction was so great that after a few weeks of exposure, I stopped training in the other art (despite being close to a Black Belt) and devoted myself to every session of CATABE that I can attend.

My first experience with CATABE & Inner Ripple was purely by accident. I was driving around, looking for somewhere to eat & when I stopped to get my bearings, I noticed the subtle banner outside the small studio that said "Fighting Arts". I never heard of this place, or knew it was there, but upon viewing closer the different fighting styles, I was intrigued. Coming from a Krav Maga & Karate background, I was eager to learn more about street wise self defense, so I called the number on the door & made a appointment. The next evening I was in the dojo observing the class & talking to the man in charge Kyoshi Ruben Gutierrez. I explained to him why I was there; and as he sat and listened & told me what CATABE was, I could tell right from the start he was knowledgeable beyond his years & could give the me training I was looking for and more. There are many different elements of CATABE that make it unique, it's not just the same "you pay me and I show you how to punch & kick for a hour" dojo. Combining the styles of boxing, Taekwondo, Japanese Jujitsu, Aikijitsu, Judo & more make for very physical classes. As well as implementing Tai Chi, meditation, energy work, & obstacle courses make class very fun as well. Many many times has a class started only being a hour, but quickly turned into 3 or 4 hours because we all lose track of time having so much fun & listening to Kyoshi's philosophy & stories. The words I say here aren't a accurate description enough of the training and knowledge we have all attained since starting CATABE under Kyoshi Ruben Gutierrez & his family. It has enriched out lives physically, mentally, and spiritually for the better. Anyone looking for superb self defense training while making themselves a more harmonious person needs to contact Inner Ripple & CATABE immediately, you will not regret it. CATABE is simply the way Martial Arts should be, & used to be from days gone by. -Zach Silva / Oct. 2014
