I went here for my introduction lesson here. I was looking forward to the lesson for quite some time as Tae Kwon Do is something I have been wanting to do for awhile. I can honestly say I have never been this disappointed in a Martial Arts Class. As soon as I arrived I was told to fill out a paper and was just ignored until class started. No one introduced themselves to me and when class started I was called to the mat with every one else which is fine. I was placed at the back of the class and the instructor (I am assuming he was not a student) began to instruct the class for exercise. I was pretty much ignored the entire class aside from general instructions. The instructor could not even remember my name, Rob, and continued to call me Sir while calling everyone (Including Kids who was their first night) else by their first names. He then proceeded to shout out "5 lines". Not instructions to get into 5 lines, not saying Ok, everyone I need you all to break up into 5 lines. He demonstrated a kick once and then told everyone to copy him. He then proceeded to walk off the mat and take care of some business while people were practicing. Had he paied any attention to his students he would have noticed me struggling. I had no idea on any forms, do I keep my leg straight? How do I put down my foot when landing? The instruction I received on that kick was akin to watching someone do it on youtube once and attempting to learn the kick. The entire time I was at the lesson I was treated like I was just another number in the class. There was no attempt in the slightest to make me feel welcome or comfortable. In fact I felt so unwelcome that I left halfway through the lesson. On the way out I was stopped at the door (By who I am assuming is the Owner/Manager) he asked me why I was leaving. I explained him my problems and he just said he was sorry it was like that. There was no attempt to fix my problems or come to a solution which would work out for both of us. I told him I did not like that there were only 3 adults in the class and they were all black belts and above. He said there was an adult class in the mornings. I told him I could make it to the Adult lesson. He just shrugged and and after a few minutes I just decided to leave. I wanted to come back and try the adult class with a different instructor. Had the manager offered I would have come back to try the Adult Class. I really was looking forward to taking up Tae Kwon Do and expected to be treated like a person. Instead I was treated like a number and just ignored. Again I have never been this disappointed nor felt this bad about myself after any Martial Arts Intro Lesson Ever.
