My son and daughter joined MAA when they were 6 (8 years ago)...as white belts working with Masters Hespan, Rosales, and Pfingsten. Their journey to student black belts was full of learning, discipline, respect, confidence building, and the use of their voice to deter bullies and "bad people". Once they reached black belt, my son continued on...the training changes significantly to become much more focused on execution and expertise of the foundation he learned as a colored belt. Sparring, Forms, JuJitsu, Weapons, Weekend boot camps for conditioning and strengthening are highlighted. My son, now 14 and a freshmen in high school, is now a 3rd degree black belt, with the ability to defend/protect himself, more confident and physically strong. I would highly recommend for all ages.

Great place, excelent instructors. My daughter and I have been taking krav maga classes. Great workout and self defense techniques.

My kids have been taking classes at MAA for the past 5 years, and we just registered them for 3 more years. The location is accessible and clean. There are classes offered every day but Sunday and at various times in the evening, which makes it convenient for my kids to attend classes several days a week. Master Hespen and Master Pfingsten are firm, but empowering instructors. They have taught my kids the tenets of Taekwondo (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit, victory), which are valuable life-lessons. The discipline and conditioning my kids receive from martial arts (Taekwondo, Jujitsu, Eskrima, and Krav Maga) have helped them do well in school, sports, and community service.

My 6-year old daughter started here 1 month ago. Exactly what we wanted as she is a bit shy and hasn't been involved in sports or any athletic activity outside of swimming. With the buddy class, she was able try it out with her cousin for free and to see if it something she'd be into. She was and still is. It's intense enough physically with games thrown in. The instructors make it fun and I really appreciate that she is exposed to female instructors. It is empowering. Also, there's a really good mix of boys and girls in the class and they get to interact with each other. No awkwardness. We are really pleased with our experience so far.

Enthusiastic instructors keep it fun and keep the kids moving. Instructors are impressively efficient with the time and really keep the kids engaged. Heavy emphasis on respect, following directions and waiting their turn which is great for kids too. Love that they play fun games with the kids that build karate basics while keeping them interested. I wish they had an option of a class on Mondays, and I wish the classes were 45 minutes instead of 30. Also love that I pick which classes I want to attend each week. That flexibility allows us to not miss out. This place is great!
