I recently moved to San Diego from Chicago and I was looking for a place to continue my training in BJJ. Coach Mike and Raquel welcomed me with open arms. In this day and age of everyone trying to make a name for themselves and focusing more on the business side of things, it was quite refreshing to see that the people of The Stronghold were exactly the opposite and focused on the people rather than seeing them as numbers. The training quality speaks for itself - having world class athletes and coaches with proven competition results. It’s really nerve racking, especially as a beginner, to find a place that will make you feel comfortable and push you at the same time, but people at The Stronghold make you feel at ease and are the greatest training partners anyone could ask for. When my kids are older, I will be enrolling them in the kids class especially after seeing how much fun these kids are having with their coaches and training partners. I would definitely recommend The Stronghold for beginners and people who are continuing their training as well.

I started jiu jitsu about 6 months ago, and it has completely changed my life. Stronghold is the best instruction and community that I have found around the San Diego area. I leave each training session with such a positive feeling and strong motivation for the next class. I encourage everyone to stop by Stronghold and try it out, given the impact it has had on me.

I have been to several other jiujitsu schools and The Stronghold is by far the best one I have been to. I am now a member and all the professors are very effective at developing individuals and the school as a team. There is so much camaraderie and good people there. Professor Mike, Vince, Tama, and Jaime are excellent and I am lucky to be taught by these great guys. Oss

I have been training at Stronghold for a little over three years now. The instructors genuinely care about your progression and want to ensure your success. It’s also refreshing to train jiu jitsu in a fairly relaxed, positive atmosphere. While training I feel like I’m training with my friends and family. I always recommend Stronghold whenever someone mentions that they want to try out jiu jitsu. If you’re interested in jiu jitsu, make sure you check them out!

I have been coming here for two years. I wish I would have come sooner. The People - The teachers are outstanding. Coach Mike Cusi, Professor Jaime, Professor Johnny, Coach Raquel, Coach Audric and many others are knowledgeable, friendly, patient and caring. Whatever your goals are whether you are a hobbyist or a hard core tournament competitor, The Stronghold has got you covered. Gi or No Gi, The Stronghold offers classes which concentrate in each and does a great job of highlighting the differences when working on a technique, drill or sparring. Training partners of all ranks sizes shapes and gender are abundant enthusiastic and care about your bjj development. The Stronghold offers female only classes which is great opportunity to forge strong female energy. The Stronghold Point Loma is Cobrinha BJJ affiliate under The Alliance Jiu Jitsu banner. Got kids? Even better! The Stronghold Point Loma started the first legitimate kids team in 2007 and they are still running strong. The kids classes train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, elements of wrestling, judo and self defense. In addition, The Stronghold kids club offfers services which include, Mentorship, Wellness Education, Enrichment activities (Chess, LEGO, Nerf, Arts/Crafts, etc.) and Community Outreach. I am honored to help teach the kids No Gi class where I can share my judo and wrestling experience. The Stronghold has many expert seminars throughout the year. Some guests that have come are: Bernardo Faria, Professor Rubens Charles Maciel (Cobrinha) and many others. I have even attended leg lock seminars from the legendary Roy Harris. I consider this a blessing in my life and Stronghold makes it possible. I received my blue belt from Coach Mike in July of 2017 and I could not be more proud. I look forward to training and it is very often the best part of my day. I plan to be a part of The Stronghold for many years to come.
