Excellent school, all the instructors are very welcoming and knowledgeable. As a beginner I felt that they really care about teaching and getting new people up to speed, while perfecting the skills of longtime returning students. If you think swords and a variety of other martial art practices are cool, this is an excellent school to go.

Love coming here. The instructor are great, and always willing to make sure you're understanding "whatever" you're trying to learn. They keep it loose and friendly too. Highly recommend for any one trying to get into the HEMA or other combat related training.

Amazing place, if I lived in Santa Clara I would attend every week. Great instruction, great facility, lots of swords to use, everyone's very helpful. Awesome place to learn longsword fighting. As well as other weapons used in historical European martial arts.

After my grandparents died, I was really looking for a way to connect with my European heritage, as they had been from Ireland and Scotland respectively. There are surprisingly few resources in the area, so I was delighted to find DEMAS in practically my back yard. I decided to head over and check it out, but ended up watching from afar. I was afraid that, as a girl, I'd be rejected, or not taken seriously. When I finally did walk inside, I was greeted with enthusiasm by Chris, an instructor at the Salle. He invited me to stay awhile, watch some classes, sit in their cozy library chairs and talk to some other students. I stayed for 3 hours that day. I returned as soon as Steaphen (the main instructor and owner) was available to sign up. Unfortunately, as I began my training, life happened. And I was only able to attend a few classes. But I have always kept the flame alive that I will one day return and become the badass Celtic warrior princess that I know I am in my heart. The classes are very well instructed, exciting, challenging, fun, and fulfilling. I suggest that if you even have a remote interest, you check it out. You won't regret it.
