I gave this place 5 stars but really it should be a 6 or 7 star rating. Jason and his wife are great people and run a great gym. Recently, I was Paso Robles area for a week or work and dropped in for a class and ended up training 6 or 7 times that week. The 0530 class offering is a great way to start the day and get an extra session in. I wish more gyms would offer early morning training. The evening classes had the right amount of people so that you always got to roll with someone different. Additionally, all my classmates were more than welcoming and made me feel at home from the start which made for a great experience. As far as instruction goes, Jason explained and demonstrated techniques in a way that everyone understood not only the basics of what he was trying to get across but the fine points as well. Jason also paid individual attention to everyone attempting the technique and helped those struggling so that in the end everyone had at least a working understanding of what he was trying to get across. Personally he helped me tighten up a few techniques (after which I saw dramatic increase in results) and gave me a few things to think about, all of which have helped immensely. As far as open mat goes, there was more than enough skill there so that you can thoroughly test yourself. At the same time it is a place where beginners are more than welcome and Jason does a good job ensuring people are matched up appropriately. I can’t say enough good things about the good people at Elite Team Paso Robles so if you are looking for a place to train stop by and check it out, you will not be disappointed.
