Todd and all the coaches exude a high level of professionalism and knowledge, which fosters a nonjudgmental and open environment. Todd makes it a point to reinforce positive skills and traits during the children's class, not only teaching them a level of discipline but also a resilience that will transcend other aspects of life.

I started taking women's self defense classes here about a year and a half ago, it was something I had been wanting to do for some time, and I am so happy that i did. The classes are awesome and the instructors do a great job of communicating with the students. I've also really appreciated them helping me to figure out the best way to do things for my body, rather than just being cookie cutter with everything. Class is an open dialogue, so that everyone can leave feeling a little safer. Eventually I started taking the combatives classes, more standard Jiu jitsu classes, and that has been a great experience. It built on the things I learned in self defense and expanded upon what I learned a great deal. The teachers are patient, helpful and always available to answer questions. I was very nervous to make the transition, but thankfully everyone is very warm and inviting, and I'm glad that I started taking more classes.

Todd Tanaka and Team HK has offered a balance of street and sport jiu jitsu in their criciulum full with detailed techniques for the most day to day person to the most advanced. The positive attitude resonates thru the school which allows for a better overall experience. A place where you can grow and develop yourself physically and mentally. It's a great place to train with great people! #KeepingItPlayful
