Went to visit GBU due to a promo and wasn't sure what to expect. Met Gavin and Professor Elias who were very welcoming and friendly. After a bit of small conversation they invited me to hangout, watch the current class or join them if I choose to do so. Decided to give it a go in the fundamental class and was glad I did. Professor was very patient in his instruction and quite detailed, which is vital when you are beginning or continuing to learn or reinforcing what you already know. After the class we sat down to talk and he went over the various programs they offered and their rates to give me an idea what it would be like should I decide to train with them. Even though I chose to utilize the promo they had going on, neither he nor Gavin made me feel as if I were compelled to stay with them, and only would have me to do so if it felt right for my situation. This is my 3rd week going and I can say that the classes are very friendly, with no egos getting in the way of learning, and both Professor Elias and Gavin have been consistent in their teaching and sharing of knowledge with the same passion and degree of details from that first day entering their school. So far everyone has been great too. With women, children and adults, they offer programs to meet all degrees of experience and an environment that is fun for everyone. One of the attributes that I've come to recognize in the short time I have been training there is the family-oriented atmosphere. Each week they have posted different activities for their members, family and friends for upcoming months. Movie night, a Bar-B-Q in a couple of weeks, or other events that bind the group and fosters growth among each other. There may be other academies that do this, although I am not sure if there are, but you can be assured that if you train here this is what you can expect all the time.

Fight like a team and train like a family is the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu motto. I am so impressed with the jiu-jitsu instruction and the family atmosphere.
