My sons have been practicing martial arts here for the past several years, in both the youth and older kids' programs, and I am just finishing up my first set of Warrior Women lessons. The owners here both know their stuff and really care about their students. In the kids program, kids learn basics such as how to fall (without breaking your nose) -- which my twins have put to good use multiple times, including this very afternoon! They also learn how to get themselves out of bad situations. As they get older, they will learn more about how to protect others -- and how to protect against weapons, even when you don't have one yourself. The Warrior Women program is excellent. The instructors and participants are all women, and though I recognize a lot of the moves from the classes my kids have taken, they present them without the fancy names and give us plenty of practice. You learn how to get out of any bad situation and get yourself away from danger. I recommend this class -- it's well worth it!

I cannot say enough good things about Warriors Edge. I started in the Women's self-defense program, Warrior Women. I was incredibly nervous but the teachers were so patient and friendly and accommodating that I got over my nervousness quickly. Eventually I decided to try the actual martial arts training. I was really nervous about that too, but it was just the same: everyone from the teachers to the students was kind and friendly and professional. Had you asked me five years ago if I would see myself doing martial arts I would have laughed and said no, but here I am. If you are nervous about trying something new, this is the right place for you. There is definitely a learning curve but everyone will help you through it. You will definitely have fun and feel empowered and learn to protect yourself and you may even discover a new talent.

I really like Warrior’s Edge because of the way they instruct the class and the very positive learning environment. I have gained more confidence in myself and developed new skills that I would have never imagined to be capable of performing. I am more aware of the surrounding environment when I travel or simply walking the dog outside. I have started to ask myself how I should react in different scenarios. My learning path has just started and I have a lot more to learn. The videos and books are available to review the lessons and this is very helpful if your job requires frequent travels.

This is a really great place. I always feel like I am part of a family when I walk in the door. Everyone is so happy and supportive of one another. I not only learn how to protect myself, but I also learn other important life skills as well. I am so glad I found Warrior's Edge Martial Arts Academy!

I highly recommend Warrior Women to females of all ages who are looking for a fun, practical way to learn how to protect themselves. The program prepares you mentally, physically, and emotionally for aggressive encounters, but it also inspires you to take ownership of your life in general. The confident, informative, awesome instructors (all women!) work with students individually to make sure everyone is accurately executing the concepts—it’s the definition of women-helping-women, which benefits us all. Also, on the last day, you practice defending attacks from a padded, helmeted blackbelt. He will not hit the floor unless you force him to, which everyone was able to accomplish due to muscle memory and tuned instincts (which was SO COOL). Do yourself a favor and sign up! I recently made the transition from WW to Aiki Ninjutsu, which I also recommend to anyone looking for a new passion or hobby. Like WW, Aiki Ninjutsu emphasizes self-defense techniques, but it requires an extra layer of open-mindedness and discipline. Aiki Ninjutsu is not just a physical activity but a life philosophy. As you learn strikes, throws, locks, etc., you also assimilate creeds about independence, teamwork, ambition, and generosity. Learning these physical and mental skills can be challenging and scary—especially because it includes quite the learning curve—but that’s how you know it’s worthwhile. My favorite part is the teaching style; the instructors embody that oh-so elusive yet oh-so necessary balance of being candid yet encouraging. They’ve perfected a system, but more importantly, they know how to adjust it to make it work for you. If you’ve thought about joining a martial arts studio, this is the one to try.
