I do have to say as a parent of a Junior Student (Christopher Schlem), Mr. Ryan Clay, the newest instructor, continues to inspire, educate and occasionally amuse him. Sometimes levity and connection is all it takes to bring a new level to a student-teacher relationship and I believe that Mr.Ryan Clay brings that, especially to the older Juniors and some of the younger adults. He's an excellent instructor who will only grow with time as he matures into additional belt levels. He honors the lineage of his mother and those who have gone before him.

My boys have gained so much from going to AKKA Karate. I wanted them to gain confidence and learn self-defense and that is definitely what has happened. The instructors are respectful towards the kids and work hard to help them achieve their goals. Even on the days my kids are feeling a little lazy, I see them smiling once they get in there and get engaged in the fun activities. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, they are like family!

I signed my 3 boys up in 2000 because I wanted them to learn self-discipline and have more confidence. I joined a month later to share the experience. All 3 of my sons achieved the rank of Black Belt. One started at age 6 and earned 6 Black Belts. One earned the rank of 4th degree Black Belt. They all grew to be better men because of AKKA. They also went through the Boy Scout program. That is the 1- 2 punch of character building. I am still a student, teacher and proud member of this fine organization.

I decided when both of my daughters were 5 & 6 years old to look into AKKA in Olathe. I felt they needed to learn self defense for their own self confidence and protection as they got older. The following Monday I joined myself not wanting my daughters to try something I wasn’t prepared to do myself. It was an incredible journey for all 3 of us that no one can take away. Keep in mind, the relationships and friends you make will always be there and most of them are Black Belts! Some pretty good company to have!

I can not begin to explain in a review what this school has been for our family. We started about 5 years ago after one of the instructors taught a 6 week class at our elementary school. My oldest daughter and my husband started together (at the time she was 7). We wanted her to build confidence and learn how to defend herself if she ever needed to. Little did we know then, what that would truly mean 4 years down the road at their black belt test. Karate teaches you to strive for little goals to achieve a bigger goal. At each belt you can look back you can see the progress you've made and know that you are better than you were the last time. You are stronger and more confident. You don't have to compete against someone else to in order to get ahead because you are all working for the same goals. You cheer each other on because you have been there before and you know what it felt like...and that builds this incredible family of support. A family that isn't just there for you in class, but goes "beyond the mats" to support you, celebrate with you, build you up and challenge you to be a better person. Since that time 4 years ago, our entire family of 5 are all taking at least one or more classes at the school (Karate, Storm, Tai Chi, MMA, Fitness Kickboxing and Little Dragons). I can't say enough about all of the instructors. They are humble and knowledgeable. They will challenge you and take time to help when you need it. They are kind but expect our very best. I respect each them and the time they have put into our school and our students.
