Transform Martial Arts is an excellent place for children and adults to learn genuine martial arts. Sensei John Young is an excellent teacher, and he works very well with people of all ages. He doesn't focus on skills and technique only, but also the characteristics that embody the arts, such as humility, service, and discipline. The teaching at Transform is of the highest quality, and I love the family atmosphere. My children all train here, as well as myself. One of my children has always been very shy and completely lacking in self-confidence. Over the past 1 1/2 years, I have seen him open up and begin talking to people other than family without being made to. And his confidence has exploded, so much so that family and friends comment on it. He absolutely loves karate, and it was the perfect environment to help him come out of his shell. If you are looking for a way to help your child gain confidence and become more comfortable with himself and others, than this dojo is a great place to start. I have loved finding out what my mind and body after capable of, which is way more than I ever imagined. Anyone thinking about trying karate should start with Transform Martial Arts in my opinion.

This is a great dojo. My sister has learned so much, in her short time as a student.

This dojo is located in the old Nationwide offices, next to the tanning salon. John does an amazing job at teaching his students. He teaches numerous age groups: starting from preschoolers all the way to adults! He teaches his young students important character qualities, such as patience, kindness, courage, etc. every month. Not only does John teach a lot, he gives even more. The dojo hosts events that support a children's hospital in Rochester, he encourages students to bring canned foods for the local food pantry, and he teaches after school classes at Cady Stanton for free! His students love him, and so do the parents. John does a lot for the community and for his students, and he is not in the least bit arrogant about his school or his experience. I could go on and on but what you need to know is, it is an incredible dojo taught by a martial arts enthusiast and you cannot go wrong signing up yourself or your child there. You can even try it out for free!
