Amazing TKD School. Tiger Rock Martial Arts Irmo SC

What a wonderful school. My child not only learned self-defense but he also learned a whole like more such as integrity, respect, honor, leadership, and confidence. Soon after joining Tiger Rock I could see the difference in my child’s confidence level. He went from being a C student to an all "A's" honors roll student. I would highly recommend this school. The instructors are great and teach proper Taekwondo Techniques. Be advised this school is not a daycare; it’s a real martial arts academy.

I have 2 sons (10 & 7) who have been enrolled at Tiger Rock for six months and just earned their 2nd degree green belt. They were hooked after their very first lesson & we all could not love it more. I have read all of the past reviews and whole-heartily ditto everything positive everyone else has written. Our family members & friends have commented on the changes they have seen in the boys in the last 6 months. They have usually always been polite, but their manners and their self-control have improved greatly . They know they have to take responsibility for their actions & have to own up to Mrs. Hulings if they mess up. They don't get to go to class if they don't finish their homework or chores in time. The instructors reward & condemn good & bad behavior respectively not only in their class but in the home, school, & community. They must have a card filled out by their teacher every 8 weeks or they can not test for the next advanced belt. They teach them how to win and how to lose. If you lose, you try again & again until you get it. We are getting prepared to go to National & World Tournaments (optional) in the next six months. They are beside themselves with excitement. They constantly have working goals. Goals they set for themselves, not by the adults. Further more, my sons have some of the best role models. Not just the instructors, but the other students. This is not something I thought of right away but noticed after several months. The more advanced students who show leadership qualities help train the class. Most are younger teenagers, but one girl is younger than my oldest. They are realizing that you don't have to be an adult to be a responsible leader. My oldest has already set his sites on this goal. It is not just the student leaders, but other students with the advanced belts ( blue, brown, red & black). You can not get to these advance stages without discipline, focus, and a desire to grow. These are the people my sons are beginning to emulate. These are students from ALL types of back grounds & most (including my own) didn't necessarily start with these qualities. TR is becoming like another family to us. They have parties several times a year. There is an awards ceremony after each belt testing. If we didn't have church on Wednesday nights, and Cub scouts twice a month, they would be at every class by choice. It can be somewhat pricey. But when I think of the money/time I would pay for them to play other sports all year around, it is not that much more especially for what you get in return. To produce a self confident honorable young man (or lady) who can defend himself (herself) if the need arises is priceless and a worthy investment. This is something they can continue into adulthood. Something that doesn't stop at high school graduation.

Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Irmo is an excellent investment in you or your child’s future. We have always tried to raise our children to be useful members of society and Tiger Rock is an integral part of that training. It is not just about self-defense and physical exercise but about manners, responsibility, honor and duty. Students are taught that it takes hard work and the right attitude to be successful in Tae Kwon Do as well as in life. My wife and I have never had a better partner in teaching our children proper values and attitudes than the leadership team of Tiger Rock. If you are considering enrolling yourself, your kids or both in a self-defense, physical exercise or just fun group you cannot, in my opinion, do better than Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Irmo.

I am a student at Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Irmo. I have to say that the instructors and students are an amazing group of people. I started going here because of continual bullying at school and lack of confidence. I have learned how to handle difficult situations and have gained more confidence than I have ever had. Mrs. Hulings is a patient but firm instructor and I could not ask for anyone better to teach me. I look forward to many years here and to achieving a black belt ranking.

Tiger-Rock Martial Arts of Irmo has been an integral part of my son's life. He has been with the academy for almost ten years and still loving it! This is a fifteen year old teenager that rather go to class on a Friday night than playing games! We originally enrolled our son in this program because we wanted him to be physically fit and to learn self-defense. He ended up getting much much more; honor, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, courage, and community are the tenants that are ingrained in his training. Tiger-Rock Martial Arts of Irmo has provided him a safe haven, a place to exercise, to learn valuable defense skills, and to be surrounded by positive influence. I would highly recommend Tiger-Rock Martials of Irmo.
