I have trained at this school for nine years and in the time I have spent there it is only now that I can really look back and see how much I have gained from my experience at this school. In the beginning it was all about developing my martial skill, but as I progressed I began to ingrain the set of moral values that my parents have tried to drum into my head for years. I have been given numerous challenges to help improve myself and I have been instilled with a work ethic that helps me earn the goals I wish to achieve. This is not a school for those who like to get things without putting in the effort, but the confidence and joy I have had from persevering, through the challenges of gaining skill and learning how to teach those skills, will stick with me for life. What further amazes me is how much I pay to gain both martial skill and a mentor who has been a second father to me. I spent time looking into the prices at other martial arts schools with Olympic/international champion level instructors and many of these schools charge up to $300 a month just for one martial art while I can study four at Chu's for less than half the price. Individually it cost $80 a month for Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Kendo and $100 a month for judo, but you can take them all for a price of $140 a month. The master of this school likes to take the time to help his students excel so the first couple of weeks each new student receives private instruction from him or a jr. instructor to help the new students get ready for class. Also, if you sign up for a black belt program even if your contract is only for a certain amount of years you are allowed up to four years extra to make sure you gain your black belt and the skill that comes with it. This has helped me out greatly since I went through several knee surgeries that kept me from getting my last promotion on time. All in all if you are looking for a place to learn martial arts, challenge yourself and build upon the values you were brought up with I would highly recommend joining in on the Chu's Martial Arts experience.

This Is the best martial arts school in the Chattanooga area. Because you you are being taught by a grand master, the quality of the teaching is very high. I've been training with grand master chu's for more than 2 years now and plan to train for many more years. Master chu is not as expensive as other schools in the area. I've learned many things from grand master chu and chu's martial arts and would recommend his school to ANYONE.

I decided to try out the school's Judo program. I had taken a year and a half of Karate and Jujitsu at another school and I felt like I wanted to try out Judo. I sighed the contract and the price wasn't unreasonable compared to other places. The Judo class was small, but it was enjoyable. Pro's were that it's Judo, facilities were adequate, people were nice and knowledgeable, and Chu knew his stuff. Con's were that Master Chu didn't teach Judo very often, part of this is due to the way Judo works (you practice the same move again and again) Also, though, when he did teach I had a very hard time understanding him, he's Korean and has a kind of accent that I can't understand. Also the way he taught wasn't to my liking. I give the school 3 stars it's not bad, but if your interested I recommend taking a few classes and seeing Chu teach and see what you think. Also I rarely saw the Tae Kwon Do class free spar.

MONEY hungry! Even if you move across the country he won't let you cancel your contract. You can't go to classes if you live on the other side of the country!!!
