We didn't even attend the last three months of our contract because the instruction provided by the employees was sub-par. The instructors didn't seem to communicate with each other very well. Most classes were off the cuff with little to no direction. Most time was spent jumping over strike bags. The class organization is not beneficial to the kids. They have very advanced belts in the same classes as somebody just starting out so the proper instructional level is not given to one or the other. After 9 months of instruction, my son still knows very little about defending himself with what The Karate Academy "teaches." They explain HOW to do a particular technique but not why. If you're going to teach to twist your toe on a punch, explain how it helps rotate your hips to drive more power instead of "because that's the way to do it." Perhaps they will read this and learn that. Finally, I paid my entire contract without missing a payment yet their book-keeping is apparently lacking. My information was submitted to a debt collector in an attempt to "recover" ~$650 in past due payments. Luckily, bank statements rectified the situation fairly quickly. However during the entire resolution process, I was only able to speak to a manager once and that was because he answered the phone. They push off dealing with clients to lower employees, even during serious issues. Place your money elsewhere.

This place is awesome. My son is learning so much and I couldn't be happier with the instructors.

They have a good code of conduct that is meant to teach kids respect, discipline, and honor. The reward system that hey have recommended has been helpful, as our son doesn't want to disappoint his instructors or lose the achievements that he has gained in he class. They do a good job managing the children, but as with any group of 4 to 6 years old it can seem like hearding cats from time to time. We have noticed a change already in our son's attitude in the month that we have been there as well as his teachers.

Mr Guevara has such a positive influence on our family. He takes the time to find out how to best help, be it student, their family, or the community. The instructors all try hard to not only know the students names, but what motivates them. We really look forward to going. We also enjoy getting to know other families.
