My son, Wes Crowe, was a student in the early 2000's. Sensei Wood and martial arts classes provided discipline and movement which helped Wes better control his ADHD. Also, it promoted increased self-esteem. Sensei was a life saver for this single Mom.

Great place I was a student got my brown belt there had to leave money issues but the Sensei was awesome and his kids where awesome too miss that place. great place, great atmosphere, plus very humorist people but you get your moneys worth here I tell you what. It is now under a new instructor I know him well and trust me you'll be taught well.

When I was younger I went to several different martial arts academies to take the complimentary course and I ended up choosing Kokusai Karate Academy because from my experience, Sensei Wood paid more attention to the details than other instructors and corrected improper form on the spot. This is easily one of the best workouts I have ever done. Martial arts not only increases your strength, speed, and flexibility, but also your confidence and self defense. I am older now and will be returning to Kokusai Karate Academy to cross off "getting my black belt" from my bucket list. I will also be bringing my younger brother to join me to get him off that playstation!

Kokusai Karate Academy was originally called Universal Karate Studio. I have been a long-time student under the instruction of Sensei Mark Wood and his daughter Sempei Chaunice Wood. The training I have received led to earning my black belt on July 20, 2002, being the first adult female to reach that goal at this martial arts school. To achieve this, one is trained in kata, grappling, sparring, weapons, board/brick breaking, tournament participation, over 200 self-defense techniques for street protection, and undergoing a great deal of physical conditioning. I have been so satisfied with the comprehensive training at this school, that I have my little boy enrolled here. He is 6 years old, holding a green belt, and is two belts away from being a Tiny Tiger black belt. There is nothing more rewarding than to see your child, performing karate moves and techniques, like an adult. This martial arts school instructs ages 3 to 7 in one group, ages 8-13 in the second group, and finally all adults, regardless of age. The facility is clean, neat, air conditioned, and has all of the necessary equipment for training. An introductory period of 5 weeks is offered at a very reasonable rate, including a free uniform. Whatever your needs are for studying the martial arts, this school will help you. Cardio training is also offered with the Lean and Fit program. Becoming physically fit and being able to protect yourself in any situation is the best health insurance anyone can buy.
