Not your typical DoJo---not a belt factory. The belts are earned. The old expression "you really get what you pay for," truly applies here. I'm sure there is a cheaper place to go, but the experience is what keeps us here. We feel very comfortable leaving our son here for multiple lessons a week. The Instructors are highly talented in their art, energetic and aggressive--yet marvelously patient and fair. They expect and give respect from/to the students. Some of them appear to be off duty peace officers but unsure. It's a very professional environment. We started on a whim 3+ years ago with one 1/2 hour lesson per week. We are now up to 4 lessons a week. My son leaves his lesson covered in sweat from head to toe and always has a gigantic smile on his face when done. They've really helped in molding him into a nice young man who is responsible for his actions. We can't imagine being anywhere else.

I started attending lessons at Shaolin Arts when I was 14 years old, which was then under a different studio name, but still had the opportunity to study under Mr. Gracey. I wasn’t active in team sports and found a love for martial arts. I stopped my practice at 18 when I went to college. While at college I sought out other styles to try and keep practicing and learning. While I enjoyed the opportunities and things other styles offered, I found that these other styles lacked what I had learned to love at Shaolin Arts: a broader approach to martial arts. Specifically, rather than a focus on kicking, grappling, energy, or one particular field, Shaolin Arts focuses on all of them. After 9 months away at school I moved back home and became re-engaged in my Shaolin Arts study. After about 9 more months of study, my life shifted, I moved, and had to stop studying. Now, at 34 years old, I recognize how much this activity improved and guided my life. I was a teenager that needed a bit of direction, discipline, and fun. Now I can see that Mr. Gracey was monumental in my learning and developing the techniques that would improve not only my fitness and learning about martial arts, but my life. I now have moved back and started my Shaolin Arts study again. Just as before, I find the workouts, environment, and general learning as engaging as ever.

Every aspect of my life has been improved by attending Shoalin Arts and trying to learn it well. The return on investment is a no-brainer (in retrospect). I have been studying here for 5 years now. The depth of knowledge that can be obtained at this Studio is amazing. I keep thinking I know stuff and then I have another mind blowing revelation that takes me to a higher level of understanding. All this due to excellent instruction and patience of the masters and also the system itself.

I've been studying Kung fu here for over four years. The instructors are fantastic and keep classes fun and motivating. There is always something new to learn.

To Reviewer - Alex Abeyta, I found you! I have been looking for your review! I am the student you walked in on. Master Gracey had me on the floor teaching me to throw off an attacker. You said, "I want to learn to do that", implying that you might want to be on top of me. Yes, Master Gracey asked you to leave. I am deeply grateful that students at Shaolin Arts are respected and protected and carefully screened. Alex, Learn some manners! By the way, my name was Michelle Butler at the time. I changed my name for safety reasons. My last name is in honor of Master Gracey. If anyone wants to know my story, try Amazon and look me up.
