Very welcoming environment, especially for beginners. Sensei John is a exceptionally patient and encouraging instructor. My 12 year old son loves going to classes. If you have children interested in the martial arts, this is a great place to go! AND...it is not crowded like other studios we have been too.

Sensei John McKendrick is a generous host, inviting me in to practice while visiting SLC from NY. His style meets students where they are from beginner to advanced. If you've ever wanted to begin Aikido this is a great place to start. John blends classic Aikido with real world application- best of both worlds.

With my experience with Yamaji Aikido, I just loved the class. The teacher John Mckendrick was such a nice person. He is a patient man, and he helped teach me the technique's in a way where I can learn it very easily. I also really liked the other students that are there, they are really kind people who worked with me to help me learn this martial art. It is a lot of fun to work with the people at Yamaji. They like to practice and learn and they make the atmosphere feel fun and light for learning a martial art. But they also help me learn the technique's and give me there own individual advice. I really enjoy going to this martial arts Aikido class. I think that a lot of other people would enjoy coming here as well.

Yamaji Aikido in Midvale Utah, one one of the nicer places i have looked and Trained. The Aikido there is taught in a very traditional way but yet still applicable in today's society, plus the weapons classes are a lot of fun. The woman's self defense course is professional taught by a very qualified instructor. The kids program looks like loads of fun, the kids are learning Aikido, respect for others and respect for them selves. Yamaji Aikido is top in my book #1

I've been a student at Yamaji Aikido for the last 30 months or so. I find the classes exhilarating. I always seem to walk out with a new refinement, even for techniques I've been learning since the first week. This dojo has more of a feeling of family, rather than just a school. Sensei is patient with beginners yet skilled enough that advanced practitioners will also be impressed!
