With the proliferation of martial arts dojos, self defense academies, and MMA gyms out there today, it can be difficult to find a serious learning environment that is conducive to legitimate self-defense training. Some schools focus more on the "art" aspect of martial arts and fail to address the violent nature of self-defense situations. Others teach more practical techniques but only in a sporting context, and don't cover scenarios involving weapons or multiple attackers. Kenpo Richmond provides a serious training environment that teaches practical self-defense and enables each individual to develop their own style suited to their unique attributes and abilities. Class sizes are small, so each person receives ample attention from instructors. The emphasis is on real world self-defense scenarios (bar fight situations, attempted robberies, multiple attackers, weapons, etc.). All techniques taught are simple and realistic--no "BS" allowed. The bottom line is this: if you are serious about learning how to realistically defend yourself with practical movements and techniques, Kenpo Richmond is the place for you.

Classes at Kenpo Richmond have been such a blast and an awesome learning experience. The structure is flexible and the exercises that we do are constantly changing but the goals are the same - to relax, and to work on practical solutions to defend yourself in any situation you might end up. The classes are small enough that each student gets a lot of individual attention from our instructor. The people here are also incredibly friendly. encouraging, and for the most part have prior experience in martial arts, so they each provide a unique perspective on the techniques we practice. All in all Kenpo Richmond is a challenging, nurturing environment for learning self defense.

Kenpo Richmond is not your traditional martial arts school. They specialize in teaching simplistic principals, techniques and body mechanics to avoid and or deal with potential life threatening situations. Instruction is tailored to make you the best you can be, not an imperfect clone of what someone else may be. Class sizes are small enough to insure lots of personal attention. Classes are fun and the instruction is Top notch!!
