We waited over a year to have our son join Leading Edge Kid's Circle because he needed to be 4 years of age. At the time, I attended their Self-Defense class and was impressed by their professionalism, approachability, and how regimented their members were. We tried another martial arts program and were not happy with the experience at all. The time came for my son to join and right away, he was petrified. He's meek, shy, and cautious about new environments, especially people. Right away, Sifu John knew how to ease his fears and worked to make all of us feel comfortable. He teamed our son up with a very friendly, sweet older boy who kindly helped him start the class. It took about 4 sessions for our son to jump right in with comfort. For about 3 weeks, during and after each session, Sifu would check in with us to tell us our son was doing well and see if we had any concerns/questions. This is in stark contrast to the other martial arts program where they yelled at him for being shy and never tried to make us feel welcomed. A year later, our son is confident and doing extremely well. He's learned independence, structure, dedication, and these skills have helped him tremendously in adjusting to kindergarten as well as in other extracurricular activities we've put him in. He's no longer extremely shy nor does he exhibit fear and tears with new people/activities. Seeing our son grow into an outgoing, confident kid in just a few short months working with Sifu and his team of kind instructors has been priceless in the scope of our son's future. Sifu John is patient, friendly, stern, but cares for his kids. Because of this, all the parents who attend class are comfortable with trusting him to lead our children in the right direction especially on days when kids can be cranky and grumpy. We feel confident in saying that the whole family is in good hands at Leading Edge. We are grateful and would give Leading Edge a 10-star review if that was an option.
