I started martial arts in late 1986. I have black belts in several arts, and I teach at my own dojo. I have been training with Kevin off and on since mid 2017. He has a vast wealth of knowledge and martial arts experience, especially when it comes to Silat. He teaches techniques in a progressive manor during classes, so that you can start basic, and build upon those techniques, adding step after step, until it is a more advanced version of the same technique. This makes it easier to learn more complex techniques and drills, in a shorter amount of time. Amerindo Silat covers just about every combat scenario that you may encounter in a street fight. I highly recommend Silat and Kevin's school, if you are beginner to martial arts, or if you have been teaching for awhile, and are looking for a real martial arts master, to help you take your skills to the next level.

Next to worthless. Teacher knows Silat but cannot teach effectively. You will never even break a sweat. Moves are given too fast and after 3 or so repetitions move on to another move. In 3 months hardly any moves were repeated making it almost impossible to remember anything, much less be effective in any real fight. His students will be wiped out in any street fight almost certainly. It is a shame as the style is very good. Wasted my time and money.

Being brand new to martial arts,I was very hesitant, among other things, to learn Silat. Kevin is a very knowledgeable instructor who is deeply passionate about what he does. He communicates effectively and is patient, which I really appreciate due to my lack of experience. Everyone has been welcoming and helpful in class as well.

I have been studying various martial arts on and off since 1989. I've had the fortune to study under a lot of great teachers and Kevin is certainly among the elite tier. Silat, by its very nature, is a secretive art. To study under an instructor in a Silat system that can trace its lineage to at least 5 separate Silat traditions is a rare opportunity indeed. Silat provides the ability to defend yourself regardless of age, illness, or past injuries. Can't do a spinning jump side kick to the head? I can't, not anymore. Silat has a breadth and depth of techniques to address and overcome a lot of physical shortcomings. A truly mixed martial art, to be used to protect your loved ones.

Hands down the best hand to hand, self defense instruction I've ever had. Being a bouncer requires me to physically and tactfully deal with undesirables, and using these techniques quickly gets the job done. Practical self defense for the real world. You won't regret it!
