Mr. Beck took 200 dollars from us (after we moved to FL and for a service which we certainly were no longer using). Over the past year, we've contacted him several times via email and phone messages. He has said that he would refund the money but is very obviously lying. Guy seemed OK before but really seems like a dirtbag now.

One star because my boys seemed to like this place and got to orange belt within 4 months of joining. We moved out of state, informed "Mr. Beck" about this a month before our move. He told us that we will no longer be charged monthly and he will cancel our membership. However, the next month came and we were charged. Now, I thought it was an accident, called him and explained to him that we were charged for the month, he quickly apologize, asked for my new address so he can send a check. A month came along, still no check. I called again, he said he was sorry, he was busy with work and was on vacation and forgot, he apologize again said he will send the check right away. Now, I forgot to mention I was pregnant, I got lost into my pregnancy and with the move that I forgot about this situation. It's 3 months into this now, I got my husband contact Mr. Beck because I didn't have the patience to talk nicely to him. He told my husband the same thing he told me. Still no check, it has been 6 months now, I contacted him again, he said he did send the check the last time he talked to my husband. I told him that if I received the check I would not have to contact him about this again. He told me he will have to check with his bank and get back to me and see if his "check" that he sent us was cashed. It has been 1 and a half week since my last contact with him, I still have not received our money. I tired calling twice, no answer, it went straight to voicemail. I did leave message, hopefully, I get call back. If not he will have to answer to my lawyer.

Three of our four kids obtained their black belts at this school. Their instructors were world class martial artists who inspire, educate and motivate their students. When I've seen Karate America Cottage Grove students perform alongside similar ranked students from other schools, there's no comparison - this school outshines any other that I've seen. Qualifying for a black belt is rigorous. Passing is not automatic -- not by a long shot. Many advanced brown belts need to go through the six-month qualifying process multiple times before they are approved. Karate America Cottage Grove is not only a great place for kids--and adults--but it's also a good place to learn a variety of approaches to martial arts including TaeKwonDo, boxing, ground fighting, practical self defense and much more. This school pulls in students from a 45 minute radius, and for good reason--it's one of the best schools in Southern Wisconsin.

NOT a real "dojo". The owner is only looking for profit. You can get your black belt quickly as long as you pay your monthly and belt fees! NOT a place to learn true Karate skills. If you are looking to "earn" your black belt then look elsewhere. This school is just a money hungry business. Fun place to bring your kids, however not the right place if you are looking for real quality martial arts.
